Training Course  To become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), you must have completed a training course offered by an accredited college, hospital, Red Cross or an online school.  You will need to have your high school diploma or GED certification.  The training course usually takes from four to six weeks. Then you will need to get licensed in the state where you wish to work.

CNA Practice Test  After completing training, you’ll need to take a competency exam that tests both your theoretical knowledge and practical skills that were taught during training.  To get prepared for CNA tests you can take online practice tests, however most of these free online CNA practice tests are poorly put together and are not a good representation of what the CNA test will be like.  If you decide to use a free CNA practice test online, make sure if they have a page about the author. Usually, you will be safe with a study guide, but with a website it might be hard to tell.

The list and application form for each state will be found in Prometric website.  Take your exams at your scheduled exam location.  Once you have passed both parts of the CNA exam and completed all necessary paperwork, the respective Board of Nursing will send you your certificate and you will be placed on the respective CNA Registry.
