2. Bulgaria is on the Balkan peninsula with an area of 111 000km2
and a population of 7 million people. Its neighbors are Turkey
and Greece to the south, Romania to the north, Serbia and
Macedonia to the west and the Black sea to the east.
3. The official language of Bulgaria is Bulgarian. It is
very hard to learn and has some unique words like banitsa,
martenitsa, kebapche with the same pronunciation in
other languages.

6. The Belogradchik Rocks are rock formations in the town of
Belogradchik. Many rocks have fantastic shapes with interesting
legends.
7. The Magura Cave is located in north-western Bulgaria. The total
length of the 15-million-year-old cave is 2.5 km. The largest inland
lake in the country, the Rabisha lake, is located near the cave and
the whole region has been declared a natural landmark.
8. The largest and most famous Eastern Orthodox monastery in
Bulgaria is situated in the Rila mountain.

10. Sofia is the capital and the biggest city in Bulgaria.
Sofia University is the oldest and the best one.
The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is one of the largest
Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in the world.
11. The Bulgarian rose is the symbol of the country
and the rose oil is used in perfumery all over the world.
