“I’ve been hired as a CAD Tech even though I am not quite done
with the program. My employer recognized the skills I’ve learned
at RTC and feels RTC students have great skills.”

5. What we are about:
This program is designed to provide entry-level skills for students seeking employment in the drafting and
Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) occupation as a Mechanical, Architectural CAD Technician. Throughout the
year, students receive substantial training in the areas mentioned above. Other areas of training include
applications of standards used in aircraft and aerospace manufacturing as well as ANSI, ISO, and ASME
standards. Ample time is devoted to ―hands on‖ instruction throughout the program. Students learn to
produce shop-ready drawings from models of tools and fixtures actually used in the industry. Renton Technical
College is one of the selected few Autodesk Authorized Training Centers in the State of Washington and our
curriculum is certified by the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA)
