Essential Question Why Read? Content Question What is the plot of a book or story? What is the climax and resolution of a story and why are they important? Content Question Describe a character from the book you read? Describe one of the setting from the book and write a short narrative description.
This project allows student to make choices. Eachstudent will be given a project packet that list 10different option of smaller projects. The studentcan chose how he or she want to earn their points.The class will read a book both aloud in class aswell as at home. The small projects will be basedon the book chosen by the class, the class will geta choice of three books they can read. The classwill take a vote and the book with the most voteswill be the book the entire class will read. One dayin class their will be a "book day", this is where theclass shows off their projects.
The teacher is there to guide the student. Theteacher is available to answer any and allquestions the students might have. Howeverthis is an individual assignment and thestudent is responsible for completing the work.
This assignment is done individually. The studenthas choices to make throughout the project. Thefirst choice is which book the student want to readfor the project- The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn- Something Wicked This Way Comes- FrankensteinThe student will also be responsible for choosingthe small projects that add up to the total points ofthe project. To aid the student in the project. Help thestudent to brainstorm ideas for the project.The student will be given all the informationneeded to complete the assignment and mayneed help with the creative aspect. The studentshould do the project, and not submit a projectdone by the parent.

By the end of this lesson students will be ableto recognize and describe the setting, climax,and resolution of a book or story with 80%accuracy.
Project based learning is a interactive teachingmethod, where students work in groups orindividually on projects to enhance learning. Byusing projects the student gain a deeperunderstanding of the content.
