Overview and example screencasts of tools for using the PURO modeling language to kick start ontology development. The tools are available at https://protegeserver.cz/purom5.
3. PURO Editor
• Drag & drop visual authoring of
PURO Models
• Integrated with OWL and
OntoUML transformation tools
• OBOWLMorph
• Puro-onto

Screencast:
4. OBOWLMorph
• Automatically generates OWL ontology skeleton
from a PURO model
• In other words, and simplified: creates class &
property definitions in OWL
• User can select various OWL encoding styles
• E.g., prefer data properties or reify everything
• OBOWLMorph can even find relevant reusable
classes in existing vocabularies

5. Puro-onto
• Creates OntoUML skeleton from a PURO model
• Dialog-based: asks the user about the nature of
entities in the PURO model
• (OntoUML is more verbose and extra
information is needed)

6. PUROMJoiner
• PURO models get large and hard to manage very
quickly
• Solution: modularization
• Users can create many small PURO modules
that are merged in the final step before the
transformation - in PUROMJoiner
