Editor's Notes
The Health Services Department provides direct services from professional health providers to the community. Our mission is to directly impact the community’s unmet health needs. Who is the community? Our Community is:You!Us!And anyone else that needs our services, such as, Government & Municipalities, Insurance companies & Brokers or Faith based institutions.
What do we mean by Unmet Health Needs? What direct services to the community do we provide?
Health Services is proud to announce that we will be rolling out OrganWise. What is OrganWise? OrganWisea multi-media, dynamic, interactive program that uses fun characters based on the organs of the body coupled with high energy activities, to teach children how to make positive health, nutrition, and physical activity choices.Need CPR?We are now offering CPR courses for Health professionals and the general community. Looking for Breast cancer education and awareness? Look no further. Health Services is also providing this direct to the community as well thanks to our partnership with Susan G Komen for the Cure. These are just some of the direct services that Health Services provides to the community.
Health Services ability to be successful depends on its ability to integrate with other key components of Miami-Dade AHEC, Inc. Health Services coordinates classes with provider services, provides speakers and integrates its services with tobacco to provide true value-added services that the community needs and wants.
Partnerships are important to us. That is why we have develop strong relationships with community leaders and organizations that help further Health Services’ mission as well as Miami-Dade AHEC’s goals. Thanks to Health Services’ integration across departments, our partnerships have brought more comprehensive services. This value represents better quality, more outreach and more services to the community.
