Webinar best practices
1. Webinar Best Practices
The convenience of the Webinar is one of its most significant advantages, and the ability to exchange
information without having to spend money on travel and accommodation costs is one that many
organizations are eager to take advantage of. There are a few important things to keep in mind in order to
ensure the effectiveness of Webinars, some of which we discuss below.
Plan ahead
Just as with any other type of seminar, planning ahead is a key factor in ensuring success. It would be to
yours’ and your audience’s advantage if you know the subject matter inside and out, and if you know
precisely how you will present information. You may also want to set up a dry run just to make sure that
everything goes smoothly.
Decide whether or not the Webinar is going to be recorded
Keep in mind that any information that you release during the Webinar may be saved by any member of
the audience, including private information that you may not want to share. If the Webinar is to be
recorded, you may want to restrict access to your desktop or other areas of your computer.
Engage the audience
A Webinar isn't really all that different from an actual physical seminar in the sense that holding the
attention of the audience is essential for a successful exchange of information. Use all the tricks that you
have learned for making sure that your audience remains interested, and you have a much better chance
at a successful Webinar.
Stick to the schedule
Make sure that you start the Webinar on time and that it ends on time. Don’t forget to allot time for a Q&A
session as well, which should last for at least 15 minutes.
2. Advertise your Webinar
Make sure you send reminder emails to your audience. For best results, email reminders 1 week, 1 day,
and 1 hour before the event would be ideal.
Get feedback on your Webinar
Finally, you should provide your audience with an opportunity to share their opinion of your Webinar. In
the same token, you may also conduct polls and surveys to foster a healthier exchange of feedback.
