This document discusses the concept of an agile team and how teams can utilize scrum frameworks and principles to work together effectively. It defines an agile team as a group that is adaptive to its environment so it can succeed as a group. Scrum is presented as an effective framework for an agile team, with ground rules like having a clear goal, agreeing on work, daily standup meetings, and reviewing progress and process. The roles of the scrum master in enforcing the ground rules and helping the team become truly agile are also outlined. Overall the document advocates that building an agile team through the smart application of scrum principles can help create a more agile organization.
3. Are we all Agile?
Some yes, some no.
Some more, some less.
Some have it inborn, some need to learn it.
4. Do we need to be Agile?
Yes, if we want to succeed in a changing
environment.
Being Agile means being adaptive to what’s
happening around us, so that we succeed.
It applies to almost any sphere of life!
The world does not become slower...
5. Agile Team?
That’s when a group of people is Agile -
adaptive to what’s happening around it, so
that it succeeds as a group!
9. In the Team...
Teamwork divides the effort and
multiplies the effect
Teamwork wins championships
(talent wins games)
Teamwork is not about YOU
Adding value to OTHERS, adds value to YOU

10. Does it succeed?
How is the atmosphere in my Team?
Is it actually a Team?
...
Is my Team Agile?
12. Start with purpose
Understand what skills you need
Attention to interpersonal skills
Let Team build itself, not someone else
Learn from
and many others...
Build?
13. Make sure purpose is clear
Make sure Team has all it needs
Help Team remove obstacles
Trust Team
And don’t forget the
Ground rules!
Facilitate?

Rugby teams
were investigating teamwork
in business and in sport and they discovered
that the highest teamspirit and performance
is in Rugby teams

Takeuchi Nonaka
As a unit
in 1986 wrote a paper:
The new product development game
where they propose Holistic or
“Rugby” approach to business
which in very short is about
Ground rules
...the team as it moves as a unit...
16. Rugby game
can be imagined as follows:
the field = market, the two teams = competitors,
the ball = customer, the goal = customer satisfied!
As the customer appears in the market (the ball in
tunnel between the two teams), the two
competitors start fighting for it. The Team that acts
as a unit gets the ball.
In Rugby this process is called SCRUM!
Ground rules
17. in SCRUM
Ground rules
everybody sees the ball in tunnel, all are chained
together and all move as a unit. They see, feel and
even smell each other and that results in an
outstanding teamwork!
But SCRUM it is just the beginning…
Once ball is obtained, it needs to be delivered, so
the goal is scored, so teamwork must continue
all the game time!
18. was developed by
Jeff Sutherland and Ken Schwaber
in 1995 based on the “Rugby” approach
by Takeuchi and Nonaka.

it was initially applied to software teams,
but over years has gone beyond...
19. Think of it as a frame of behavioral rules
for a non sport Team
that wants to reach goals!
What is SCRUM framework?
Ground rules
The rules help the Team
become/stay/evolve as an Agile Team - be
adaptive to what’s happening around it,
so that it succeeds!
20. SCRUM as your Ground rules
1.Together have
a clearly
stated goal!
2.Together agree what
needs to be done and
what the result should
look like!
5. Shortly meet
together every day
to see where
you are!
3.Together write
things down and
even visualize!
6.Help each other -
remain as a Team
till the end!
7.Review the result
when time has
come!
8.Review also how
you worked, not what
you worked on!
Ground rules
4.When doing -
communicate as
much as possible!
9.Repeat with
your next goal!
And make sure you have a SCRUM Master!
21. SCRUM Master?
Ground rules
The one that masters the Ground rules and
helps others in doing the same
The one that helps others in applying the
Ground rules on a Daily basis
The one that helps the Team be a Team!
22. And SCRUM is based on values...
Are your people aligning to
those?
Courage
Commitment
Focus
Openness
Respect
Only by being Brave, Committed,
Focused, Open and showing Respect
one can be a truly great Team member!
23. If there is a Team, shouldn’t there be a
coach?
Coach?
Only humans we are and we can always improve...
24. The bottom line
by building it smart,
facilitating it good with use of SCRUM,
coaching -
we are already
one step closer
to a truly

And when we have an Agile Team
