Houston Community College saw growth in total student enrollment from 2008-2012, reaching over 70,000 students in Fall 2012. In Fall 2012, the gender makeup of semester credit hour students was majority female, and the largest ethnic groups were Hispanic and African American. The majority of semester credit hour students resided within the HCC service area. International student enrollment also increased during this period.

Houston Community College has five Early College High Schools.
East Early College High School was created in 2006, in partnership with HISD. The early college high school is located on Houston
Community College Southeast’s Felix Fraga Campus.
