8. • Patient Reported Satisfaction for PCIOLS 2+ Years Out
– 117 Patients / Accommodating 6.1 years post op/Multifocal 4.4 years post op
– John A Hovanesian MD, Harvard Eye Associates, CA
• Purpose:
– Determine satisfaction levels of patients at least two years after cataract
surgery with bilateral accommodating or multifocal lens implants
• Methods:
– A questionnaire was administered to patients who had undergone
uncomplicated cataract surgery with an accommodating vs a multifocal lens
implants (PC-IOLs) at least 2 years after having had the surgery. Healthy
eyes/potential VA >=20/25.
• Results:
– Most patients are very satisfied; even 6 years after surgery
– 90% of patients are likely to refer to friends and family

10. Current Outcomes – Warren Hill MD
“Based on the last 260,000 cases submitted for
lens constant optimization…
– Less than 1% of surgeons have a ±0.50 D
accuracy of 92% or better
– 6% or less have a ±0.50 D accuracy of 84%.
– The vast majority are between 76% and 80%
for a ±0.50 D accuracy”
