23. Best Practices To Leverage Your Mobility Initiative
1- Find a vendor that can grow with your current and future mobility needs. Determine your needs up to 18 months
2- Designate stakeholders who will contribute to requirement definition & approve decisions for mobility solutions
3- Know your needs before selecting a mobile solution or vendor. Prioritize mobility projects i.e. first device management
then application development
4- Find out which processes do various departments and business owners want to mobilize
5- Which mobile application systems do you need to support - is cross-platform development needed?
6- Understand your organizations IT strengths and weaknesses. Understand the impact on IT with respect to supporting
any mobility solution.
7- How are your mobile apps going to be developed - internally or outsourced?
8- Have a plan to communicate enterprise mobility solutions to all end users.
9- For MDM and BYOD solutions make sure you have an updated Acceptable Usage Policy
10- How will you measure the success of your mobility strategy or deployed solutions? What are metrics or KPIs?
Lastly, its hard to get it 100% right because mobility is a changing environment. Working with a
company that can guide you from start to finish, greatly increases your chances for success.

Enterprise Mobility Management, a phrase that means different things to nearly every development leader in the industry. Topics covered:
The mobile maturity curve and defining aspects of each point in the journey.

Forrester Research offers data to consider when it comes to companies in the decision cycle of their mobility strategy.
Gartner - GLOBO is recognized as one of the 22 companies, leading the Mobile Development Platforms evolution in the Gartner report, “Technology Overview of Mobile Application Containers for Enterprise Data Management and Security”
VDC - GLOBO is recognized as one of the 15 companies, leading the Mobile Development Platforms evolution in the VDC report, “Strategic Insights 2012: Enterprise Mobility Solution Mobile Development Platforms”
Globo - we see many organizations initially looking for a mobile device management solution. As we go into our discovery process with these organization we look for key pieces of data like device ownership which tells us if all of their mobile devices are corporate owned or if they looking for a BYOD solution. In many cases they are looking for both. If the organization is looking to mobilize an application or provide some amount of real time data to one of the LOB’s we discover what type of application is needed and propose the appropriate solution. In addition we at some point circle back and see if the customer can utilize our MDM or BYOD functionality possibly replacing the one the currently have.
Globo - we have seen a variety of retail implementations using mobile devices for product information or service delivery from the MDM/EMM perspective. I many of these scenarios a tablet is being used an information kiosk for both product and service. Our requirements are to manage and secure the mobile device to limit its functionality to its intended use by the retailer. In other situations we are being asked to develop a specific mobile application for them to more effectively market their products and services.
Forrester - Given the individual customer’s state of maturity, early maturity clients will either try to do all of it themselves or farm out all of it. As they mature they better understand not only the technologies, but what opportunity (and associated challenges) is presented by mobile and they can better feather in a composition of the different development and services options.
