A Nice Day
“Kring……Kring….” The clock was ringing. It was at 03.00
a.m. It made Yulia , a student who had been studying in a
junior high school get up earlier than the days before. Yulia
was a beautiful and smart girl. She had long hair and her age
was seventeen years old. Now, she was a third class student in
SMPN 1 Kutasari.Her father was a mathematics teacher. His
name was Mr. Himawan. He was a good and kind father.Her
mother was also a teacher. However, she taught in a primary
school in her town.Yulia had one brother and one sister. Her
brother, Andi, had been studying at a university. He was an
engineering university student. Lisa, her sister was still 10
years old and studying in a primary school.
After getting up,she folded the blanket and put in order
the bed. The air was very cold. She sat down on her studying
desk and studied mathematics. Mathematics was her favourite
subject. She felt that it was an easy subject to be studied. It
was at 05.00a.m. ,She had finished her study and opened the
window, breath the fresh air.
“Oh…. what a bright day it is! said Yulia quetly.

2. The sun was shinning brightly and the wind entered her
bedroom.The birds was chirping and the grasses was swaying
in the wind. She remembered that it was Monday, the first day
for her to go to school after she had a holiday for two weeks.
She went to the bathroom for taking a bath. She liked an
orange soap. It could make her became fresh and confident.
Then…she went to the kitchen to help her mother.
“ Good morning , Mom,….How are you today?” Greeted Yulia
“ Good morning, fine, honey.” said mother.
“What can I do for you, Mom?”asked Yulia
“You can wash the dishes and help me to fry some eggs for
breakfast. Please,take it in refrigerator..”commanded mother.
“Ok….”
After some minutes, the breakfast was ready ….
“Lia, wear your uniform soon . I will make father have
breakfast !” said mother to Lia.
They had breakfast in the dinning room together…,
“Lia ,you will have an exam next month, have you ready to have
it?”asked father to Yulia
“Yes dad, I will attempt to pass it .”
“I haven’t asked you what your dream is. “
“I want to be a mathematics teacher, like you, Dad..”said Yulia
surely

3. “Ok I will agree with your dream if you want to study it
seriously.”advised father
“Of course….,Dad”
They had finished eating the breakfast, and Lia had been
ready to go to school.

“Hello Ran…. How are you?
“ Ohhh….Lia I,m fine… You become thinner now…,
“Yeah…..I’m fine too.We haven’t seen for a long time…How
about your holiday?” asked Yulia
“O….I have a nice holiday…One weeks ago, I with my sister
visited Kutha beach. Do you know where it lies?”
“Of course…it lies in Bali, doesn’t it?”
“Yes, I wasn’t only visit Kutha, but also Sanur beach…they have
beautiful scenery ….I was really happy there…By the way, I
have something for you.”said Rany
“What is it?”
“A blue shawl.Do you like it?’
“Of course…Thank you so much…You are my best friend. Oh
yeah.. how did you go there?”
“By ship…it wasn’t long. I was sure you would enjoy Bali so
much..”
“Oh.. whenever I eager visit it…”

4. “Yes…If you have time, you must visit it. By the way, Where
have you gone for holiday?”asked Rany
“I only visited Yogyakarta with my aunt, went to Malioboro and
the book store.”
“Hmm…..I know. You had to look for some novels, didn’t it?”
“You are right.”
Teng….teng…..teng…..the bell was ringing.
The students sat down in their desks.
“Good morning students..” said Mr.Anwar, a new teacher in Lia’s
class.
“Good morning ,Sir.”
“Ok…I know you must be confused with me.., My name is
Muhammad Anwar.You can call me Mr.Anwar. I was a historical
teacher. The headmaster make me teach you. Hmm…is there
any questions?”
“Where do you live,Sir?”asked Tomy,the students who sat at
the corner of the class.
“I lived at Rajawali 231…..you may visit my house if you have
any time. Ok…I think enough. Let’s begin to study ! Now, we are
studying about historical heroes,such as Diponegoro,Pattimura,
Cut Nyak Dhien,and Kartini. You must have known them.
Hmmm…okey,we will study them one by one.
At first,Kartini. She was a woman hero who came from
Jepara,Central Java. She had made a book,”Habis Gelap

5. Terbitlah Terang”. Although she didn’t struggle directly in the
war place, she had made a big change in education. Because of
her, the girl students can study at school ,like the boy
students.
Tok…..tok….tok……,the gardener knocked the door.
“Mr.Anwar, the headmaster have you face him soon. He has
something to discuss with you.”said the gardener to Mr.Anwar.
“Ok.. I know it, I will face him, thank you , Sir..”
“The students, I have to face the headmaster I will come back
soon.”
There was a long silence in that classroom. Only a ticking of a
clock on the wall that could be heard. Then…
“Li…do you have any candies?”asked Tara
“No, friend , Oh yeah… Yesterday I saw you in the book store,
what book did you buy there?”
“I bought a comic, but where were you the day before?”
“I was in the market, accompanied my mother . By the way,
Have you finished read it ? I want to read it. May I lend your
comic , please?”asked Yulia
“ Of course…”answered Tara happily
Suddenly, Mr.Anwar came into the classroom.
“I’m sorry the students, I must go now, Before it, I have a duty
for you. Please, look for an article about the heroes in
magazine, internet, or newspaper. We will continue our lesson

6. tomorrow. See you bye-bye….”said Mr. Anwar left the
classroom.
