SPECIAL NEWS
 U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and
Urban Development reported today that privately owned
housing units authorized by building permits in July were
at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,052,000. This is 8.1
percent above the revised June rate of 973,000 and is 7.7
percent above the July 2013 estimate of 977,000. Privately-
owned housing starts in July were at a seasonally adjusted
annual rate of 1,093,000. This is 15.7 percent above the re-
vised June estimate of 945,000 and is 21.7 percent above
the July 2013 rate of 898,000.
 The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today that all
items index increased 2.0 percent over the last 12 months, a
slight decline from the 2.1 percent figure for the 12 months
ending June. Monthly inflation increased 0.1% in
July,against 0.30% in June. The index for all items less food
and energy rose 1.9 percent over the last 12 months, the
same figure as for the 12 months ending June .
COMMODITY BUZZ
 The MCX Crude oil futures witnessed bargain buying to-
day following the uptick in global prices. WTI crude
gained from its multi month lows amid strong cues from
global equity markets. Prices had dropped in last few
weeks on demand worries and rising US inventories.
However, with the US stocks surging sharply last night,
oil found itself on a rising trajectory. WTI crude is quot-
ing at $96.84 per barrel, up 43 cents per barrel on the
day.MCX crude oil futures for September are trading at Rs
5880 per barrel, up Rs 36 per barrel the day.
 Gold futures inched up near $1,300 level as geopolitical
uncertainty supported while positive equities and gold de-
mand worries continue to resist the prices. Trades are
looking for US housing and CPI data scheduled to release
later today.
