This journal submission describes the student's experience in a Foundations in Natural Build Environments course. They discuss how their initial perception of psychology classes as boring was changed after taking this class, as they learned many interesting and useful concepts about human thinking, self-perception, and vision. The student reflects on how knowledgeable people must be who have mastered these psychological skills and concepts.

I’ve heard so many times, people said that “Psychology” class is not good, boring,
wasting time and etc. And so in the first semester of my program, when I first noticed that this
subject is in the list of my second semester’s subjects, I was so surprised and think that this
class will be a boring one.
But a few after I started this subject, I think that this subject might not be as bad as what
people said. I had fun actually in this subject and so are my friends who took the same
program. “I’ve learned about many things in this subject too while I’m having fun” that is
what I thought now if you ask me.
I’ve learned about self-concept, about how we think about ourselves, about how we
perceive ourselves, about self bias and etc. I learned that people would actually try to avoid
responsibility of their mistakes and so on. This is actually fun, because I think that I learned
so many new things and especially how to see through human, how they think and etc. I think
that I learned so many interesting things that I won’t be able to get anywhere else. And most
importantly, I think that this might be really useful in the future when I get to work.

In this subject I also learned about human thinking, about controlled thinking and
automatic thinking. I think that, from this one, I learned a lot of new things. For example, I
never knew that we can divide the way human thinks into two, I never knew that controlled
thinking and automatic thinking exist. Not just that, I also learned about what both of them
means.
Every time I learned something in the psychology class, I’ve always try it out. I just
wanted to prove it, it’s not that I don’t believe about what my lecturer taught me, it’s just that
I really wanted to try it out, and when I succeed in proving it, I just feels more interested, I
will start to think about it and I will think that it is an interesting one, especially if I can use
these skills well.
All of these new things that I learned, just made me to respect this subject. It’ really hard
to believe that this subject really exist, a subject where you can learn these things, where you
can find and learn new things that you never even thought about.
I always feel excited every time I came to in this class, knowing that I will learn new
things. And I always feel that I learn so many things every time the lecturer tells us about
something new, even though she might only taught us one to two new things, I always feel
that I just learned a whole new things, and it really feels interesting, it made me feel that I just
equipped myself with a better knowledge every time we finished a class.
Respect, is the word that explain how I think of my lecturer and other people who master
these psychological skills, because I think that these skills is really useful and great. People
who can use these psychological skills well, know more about human, they know more about
their family and friends, they know more about the situation they are in.

I just learned about the visual topic. This is yet another interesting topic. It tells you how
human’s vision works. It gives you a lot of new information about human’s vision, how
colors work in different ways, what each color suggests, how we can deceive human’s visions
easily, etc.
What written in this topic are all true. I quickly imagined all of the things in this topic
and I was really surprised, to understand the things that always happen to us human in our
vision, that I have never realized before I learn about this topic.
This topic just made me want to think about it again and again, it made me realized
about the human vision and it made me feel interested to learn more about it, and again I
really think that this will be a useful knowledge to have and that is one of the reason why I
wanted to learn more about it.
“It’s just amazing to learn about this topic”, that is what I thought when I read through
the slides of this topic. With all the meaning that each color suggests, where to use it, how
human think about that, the slides of all the interesting pictures and all, this topic became
more interesting. Even one of my friend said that this topic is really interesting, and he is the
kind of student who do not really like this subject but not hate it too.
If I think about it again, I just realized how knowledgeable people who have knowledge
in this subject, especially those who mastered them. And it really just made me want to learn
more about psychology class where at first, when I was younger, the psychology class that
pass through my mind is the class where you only learn how to be a consultant and that it is a
really boring subject.
