Durisol is a proprietary building material called "woodcrete" made from recycled wood and concrete. It is cast into lightweight wall form units that are dry stacked without mortar to form structurally insulated concrete walls. Key benefits include cost savings over traditional masonry, rapid construction, sustainability from recycled materials, excellent thermal and acoustic performance, and durability being fire proof, rot proof and pest resistant. It has been used successfully for over 50 years in applications like housing, schools, hospitals, and commercial buildings.

4. What is Durisol?
• Durisol is a proprietary material sometimes
called “woodcrete”
– Clean recycled waste wood is “mineralised” and used as a
replacement for aggregates in a concrete mix, producing a durable
material with an open matrix
» Fire proof
» Rot proof
» Light weight
» Resistant to wood boring insects
5. Forming Durisol Walling
• Durisol is cast into wall form units - PFA
• Uniform and consistent sizing (engineered finish)
• 4 No sizes (170 – 365mm wide) - Lightweight
under CDM regs - only 8 units required per m2
• Dry stacked without mortar from foundations
• Use of high slump concrete fill guarantees void
free fill of forms
• Easily altered on site
• Units are self palletised - minimising site waste –
waste can be returned

19. Braunton Caen School
“The sound insulation is fabulous! There is a noticeable positive difference when you walk through
to the new part of the school. The sound Insulation adds to a feeling of calm and there is no
echo, even in such a lofty open space. This is particularly good for classrooms for young children
as it adds to the comfort of the space and allows for calm and quiet as well as discussion and
play.
Thank you”
