2. How is Sky Funded?
• Advertising: Sky sells advertising slots to a range of
different companies whom would like to advertise their
product/business to all the people watching that
channel. Companies can buy advertising slots on all the
channels sky provide. The companies buy times slot
which varies in price depending on when they would
like to show their advertisement. For example showing
an advert during the ad break on the FA Cup will be a
lot more expensive than buying a time slot which is
10am-11am. This is because more people will see the
advertisement during the FA Cup compared to 10am in
the morning.
3. Funding
• Subscriptions: Sky is also funded by customers
that subscribe to the Sky TV packages. For
example if a customer would like an
entertainment package which includes over 35
channels, 240 free-to-air channels, Sky+, Catch
up TV, Sky Go and 11 free-to-air HD channels
for the price of £21.50 per month.
4. Funding
• Online/Mobile: Sky subscribers get an account
made once they have signed up to the sky
subscription plans. This allows customers to
sign on in the internet through their
computers/smartphones and watch things
such as sky sports.
