Prioritize nursing care for five to six critically ill patients based on assessment findings and identified needs.
Provide direct care by performing comprehensive health assessments, developing differential diagnoses, and
conducting specialized tests such as EKGs and NIH stroke scale.
Conduct cardiopulmonary assessments to identify abnormal heart rhythms, respiratory patterns, or breathing sounds
that indicate complications.
Document patients' assessment findings, cardiac rhythms, medical histories, and vital signs upon admission and
report pertinent data to the physician.
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests per protocol to assess patients' condition and determine emergency
intervention needs.
Explain testing procedures to patients to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety.
Set up and monitor medical equipment and devices such as cardiac monitors and oxygen delivery devices.
Continuously monitor, record, and report assessment findings, symptoms and changes in patients' conditions.
Consult and collaborate with other healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized

Treat cardiac patients following myocardial infarctions, stroke, and procedures such as cardiac catheterizations as
well as pacemaker and AICD placements.
Perform emergency medical procedures, such as basic cardiac life support (BLS), advanced cardiac life support
(ACLS), and other condition stabilizing interventions.
Treat isolation and reverse isolation patients with cancer, C. diff, influenza, MDRO, TB, VRE, etc.
Initiate, maintain, and monitor invasive equipment and devices such as colostomies, urinary catheters,
gastrointestinal tubes, and central lines.
Intravenous therapy including initiating peripheral IV lines, maintenance of central and peripheral IV lines, and
administration of parenteral nutrition.
Administer medications intravenously, by injection, orally, through gastric tubes, and by other methods.
Administer blood and blood products, monitoring patients for signs and symptoms related to transfusion reactions.
Administer feedings through NG tubes and PEG tubes.
Monitor patients' fluid intake and output to detect emerging complications such as fluid and electrolyte imbalances.
Provide wound care using standard dressing changes and negative pressure wound therapy.
2. Provide physical support to assist patients to perform daily living activities such as getting out of bed, bathing,
dressing, using the toilet, standing, and walking.
Lift or assist others to lift patients to move them on or off beds, examination tables, and stretchers.
Educate patients and families on health condition, treatment, medications, home care, and disease prevention.
Advocate for patients' and families' needs and provide emotional support for patients and their families.
Perform discharge planning and education for patients and caregivers.
