Under development for Alameda County, SNAPMapper was originally proposed and protoyped by Angela Woodall and Dan Turner. The idea arose out of Woodall's research as a reporter; she saw increasing numbers of people on Federal (SNAP) and California (CalFresh) assistance having trouble locating stores that sold fresh, healthy food at good prices.
