2. Relational Teaching – Power of
Your Words
The pen is mightier than
the sword
–Edward Bulwer Lytton
(1839)
3. What power do your words have?
Your words can be a ‘healing touch’
to a student’s life
Changing your words can transform
the lives of your students (and
yourself!)
The words we speak do more than
simply express how we feel, words
can and will affect their/our
feelings

Editor's Notes
When words are read not only as groups of characters, but as thoughts or emotions, the real power of words can help, inspire, encourage, and motivate our students. Give example of Hurting children 2. Our words carry enormous weight. We are teachers. They impact people for decades, providing the courage to press on or one more reason to give up. Eg. of short Haiqal. 3. Analogy of childbirth
It means that when we give of ourselves, nothing is truly lost. When one candle lights another, its light is not diminished The light given off together is greater than the light of one.
