What is post- production?
Wikipedia says:
• Post-production is part of filmmaking and
the video production process. It occurs in
the making of motion pictures,
television programs, radio programs,
advertising, audio recordings,
photography, and digital art. It is a term for
all stages of production occurring after the
actual end of shooting and/or recording
the completed work.
In the exam
• Questions on post- production will often
ask you about two skills (e.g. post-
production and digital technology).
• Today you will be focussing on how you
exercised creativity during the post-
production process.
Create a post- production poster for
your A2 coursework. Consider:
• How much of your text was ‘created’ in post-
production?
• What technologies did you use to modify your
raw material?
• How did this change the meaning of your work?
• What transitions/ effects did you apply during
post-production?
• How did you manipulate narrative/ colours/
lighting/ contrast/ brightness/ sound etc during
the edit?
• How much of your footage ended up ‘on the
cutting room floor’ (unused) and why?
