Day 1
- The Warm Up
Before you start off on your Twitter Marathon we suggest you measure where you are before you start.
To record your measurements and track your efforts our Free Twitter Marathon Tracker can be found
at the end of this presentation to download.
Make note of you current stats:
Follower Count
How many followers do you currently have?
Following Count
How many users are you currently following?
Tweet Count
How many tweets have you tweeted so far?
Klout Score
Head to klout.com sign in with Twitter and get your score

- Review & Modify
When taking part in a marathon you want to look the part, you're Twitter account needs to do this too.
1. Profile Picture
Your profile picture says a lot about you. Make sure it’s saying what
you want. Use your company logo, users will begin to recognise your
brand.
2. Name
Use your company name. You want people to be able to find you.
3. Location
Make sure you put your location so people know where you are.
4. Website
Make sure you add your website link. Social Media plays a big part in
website traffic.

5. Bio
When writing your bio make sure to add your main keyword, this will
help with Google searches. Be clear about what you do and what you
will be tweeting about.
6. Design
Make sure your cover photo is consistent with your brand. As Twitter
has changed from a custom background to using cover photos like
Facebook and Google+ the dimensions are as followed:
1500 x 500 Pixels
7. Notifications
To keep up to date and contactable download the Twitter app to your
smart phone. You will receive notifications when someone Retweets,
Favourites and Replies to your tweets allowing you to respond
immediately!

Day 2
- On your marks, get set, GO!
Complete The Following:
•Follow 10 Relevant People
•Share Quality Content x2
Total Tweet Count = 2
Follow Relevant People
Search Hashtags that are relevant to your content and see who else
is using them. Check out their profile and posts and start to follow
relevant users. You want to find users that have conversations with
others and share quality links. Once you start sharing your content
with the same hashtags they will begin to see you!
Share Quality Content
Post tweets that are relevant to your target market, whether it be a
blog post, solving a problem or sharing your opinion on a hot topic in
your field.

Complete The Following:
•Follow 10 Relevant People
•Share Quality Content x2
•Retweet others content x 2
Total Tweet Count = 4
Use Hashtags
Don’t forget to research your hashtags and see which topics are hot!
We advise not to use more than two hashtags.
Retweet
Find 2 posts from the new users you are following and retweet them.

Complete The Following:
•Follow 15 Relevant People
•Share Quality Content x3
•Retweet others posts x 2
•Favourite others posts x 2
Total Tweet Count = 7
Start To Get Retweeted
Start to think about getting retweeted from now on. When creating a
post think is my content relevant? Will my posts be of use to my target
market? Can I solve problems with my posts?
Favourite
Find 2 posts from the new users you are following and favourite their
content.

- Keep a steady pace
Complete The Following:
•Follow 15 Relevant People
•Share Quality Content x3
•Retweet others posts x4
•Favourite others posts x4
•Comment on others posts x2
Total Tweet Count = 13
Comment on Posts
Take a look at your new users posts and reply, ask them a question
about their content or leave an opinion. After all isn’t this what you
want others to do with your content?
Follow Back
At this point you will have gained new followers so look through their
profiles and if relevant to your field or target market follow back!

•Share Quality Content x5

Mentions
Thank users for following or a retweet. Ask followers questions or for
their opinion. Send individuals links to blog posts if you think it would
be helpful to them. Make sure you have text before @username so
everyone can see your post.

•Surveys / Questions (Retweet for yes and favourite for no)

Tip
Try and include images where you can. Stats show that tweets using
images receive 18% more clicks than just text based tweets.
With 500 million as the average number of Tweets sent per day you
need to make sure your content is seen!

Track Your Efforts
Track your tweets with softwares such as Hootsuite and
Twitonomy. These softwares will allow you to see what content is
working. Both of these softwares offer a free package.

  • 2. @Bold_Online Day 1 - The Warm Up Before you start off on your Twitter Marathon we suggest you measure where you are before you start. To record your measurements and track your efforts our Free Twitter Marathon Tracker can be found at the end of this presentation to download. Make note of you current stats: Follower Count How many followers do you currently have? Following Count How many users are you currently following? Tweet Count How many tweets have you tweeted so far? Klout Score Head to klout.com sign in with Twitter and get your score
  • 3. @Bold_Online - Review & Modify When taking part in a marathon you want to look the part, you're Twitter account needs to do this too. 1. Profile Picture Your profile picture says a lot about you. Make sure it’s saying what you want. Use your company logo, users will begin to recognise your brand. 2. Name Use your company name. You want people to be able to find you. 3. Location Make sure you put your location so people know where you are. 4. Website Make sure you add your website link. Social Media plays a big part in website traffic.
  • 4. @Bold_Online 5. Bio When writing your bio make sure to add your main keyword, this will help with Google searches. Be clear about what you do and what you will be tweeting about. 6. Design Make sure your cover photo is consistent with your brand. As Twitter has changed from a custom background to using cover photos like Facebook and Google+ the dimensions are as followed: 1500 x 500 Pixels 7. Notifications To keep up to date and contactable download the Twitter app to your smart phone. You will receive notifications when someone Retweets, Favourites and Replies to your tweets allowing you to respond immediately!

Complete The Following: •Follow 10 Relevant People •Share Quality Content x2 Total Tweet Count = 2 Follow Relevant People Search Hashtags that are relevant to your content and see who else is using them. Check out their profile and posts and start to follow relevant users. You want to find users that have conversations with others and share quality links. Once you start sharing your content with the same hashtags they will begin to see you! Share Quality Content Post tweets that are relevant to your target market, whether it be a blog post, solving a problem or sharing your opinion on a hot topic in your field.
  • 6. @Bold_Online Day 3 Complete The Following: •Follow 10 Relevant People •Share Quality Content x2 •Retweet others content x 2 Total Tweet Count = 4 Use Hashtags Don’t forget to research your hashtags and see which topics are hot! We advise not to use more than two hashtags. Retweet Find 2 posts from the new users you are following and retweet them.

When creating a post think is my content relevant? Will my posts be of use to my target market? Can I solve problems with my posts? Favourite Find 2 posts from the new users you are following and favourite their content.

After all isn’t this what you want others to do with your content? Follow Back At this point you will have gained new followers so look through their profiles and if relevant to your field or target market follow back!

Ask followers questions or for their opinion. Send individuals links to blog posts if you think it would be helpful to them. Make sure you have text before @username so everyone can see your post.

Here’s some ideas to help you along the way: •Competitions •Special Offers •Promote Your Other Accounts (Facebook, Pinterest, Google+) •Company News •Introduce Staff •Surveys / Questions (Retweet for yes and favourite for no)

Stats show that tweets using images receive 18% more clicks than just text based tweets. With 500 million as the average number of Tweets sent per day you need to make sure your content is seen!

These softwares will allow you to see what content is working. Both of these softwares offer a free package.
