was that most narratives follow a common
pattern of the mythic hero quest, journey
or monomyth.
Most narratives, regardless of their time,
place or culture , follow the same
narrative stages and contain recognisable
characters. i.e. archetypes
2. Archetypes
Archetypes are recurring character types (and relationships) and/or
patterns or symbols found in mythology.
Examples of character archetypes
Hero- Mr Incredible, Superman, Batman, Wonder woman, Prince Charming
Shadow- Voldermort
Devil Figure – Cruella deville,
Outcast – the mutant toys (toy story)
Mother figure
Earth mother – Mother nature
Temptress- Eve
Wise old man- Dumbledore
