Uttarakhand on Strike
The state of Uttarakhand in North India continues to face large number of everyday government strikes. This affects not only the daily lives of its citizens, but equally importantly, negatively impacts the already feeble process of development.
This presentation has been prepared using news clippings from the popular daily, Amar Ujala of August 2, 2014. The various strikes and agitations reported on August 2 are a clear indicator of the extent of the strike issue in Uttarakhand.
Basic solutions have been advocated in the presentation. Grievance redressal and focus on human resource development are few initiatives that can minimize the menace of strikes in the Himalayan state.
Uttarakhand can never hit the recovery trail without sincere efforts by its politicians and bureaucrats to curb the growing number of strikes. Hope somebody, somewhere is seeing and listening!
