CADANS seminar 2nd June 2015, Antwerp.
Keynote presentation.
IBV is a research centre that studies the behaviour of the human body and its interaction with products, environments and services. In particular, the Anthopometrics Research Group presents 3D harmonised databases of the spanish population bodies and feet. It also presents several applications of 3D shape analysis to size design, size allocation and personalisation of footwear, clothing, childrenswear and earphones.

• A 3D shape analysis has been done to study the shape variability of the concha.
• A decomposition of the main shape variability of the concha has been has been obtained
using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) with the 3D meshes of the database.

Size allocation of apparel
• Aims of the study:
1. viability to predict the garment fitting and size
from anthropometric data of the user
2. For different type of garments, to identify the
fitting areas relevant for size prediction.
3. Identify the body measurements relevant for
fitting prediction in different body parts.
• The experimentation:
– 50 females from 18 to 35.
– A subjective fitting test:
Fitting perception on different body parts
Fitting preference on different body parts
Size selected
– 3D body scanning session to obtain the digital
anthropometry.
– All the users test the right size, one more and one
less
