The subject became very popular when people questioned if we were the only ones in the solar system Many scientists question and research to try to prove the existence of  extraterrestrial intelligence in our solar system Scientists discovered that some planets in our solar system might have life on them
For decades Mars is the planet where scientists try to find life They think that Mars has water on the planet.  Ever since the telescope was invented, astronomers are able to see canals or canyons that have been formed on Mars.  Finding water on mars is a huge deal because the water acts like it dissolves in a chemical reaction which creates carbon-based life Mars in the habitable zone which makes it easier for extraterrestrial life to form Habitable Zone:  a theoretical band of space a certain distance from the sun, where the conditions are acceptable for carbon-based life
Earth is in the middle of the habitable zone, although astronomers do not know how far this zone extends, some think Mars could be in it Most astronomers are looking for carbon-based life or life like on Earth The habitable zone only applies for favorable conditions for carbon-based life and it is possible for forms of life that do not need water to exist
Astronomers don't limit to our solar system, but think they should go outside our solar system and look for life Scientists use interferometry  to find life on other planets Interferometry:  an investigating technique that uses lasers, which is used in astronomy and other fields, to find planets in the habitable zones of other solar systems Astronomers think that there are hundreds of solar systems and thousands of planets which means that the odds of finding another planet with life is high While NASA makes better probes, the search for more life still continues
- In my opinion, I think there is more life out in the universe. The only thing is I don’t think there is any intelligent life or life like us human beings on Earth. Since the universe goes on for eternity, and there are trillions and trillions of planets  there  has to be some sort of life out there.
