Water Resources in
    the Caribbean

The Caribbean
Despite it’s beautiful beaches and
 stunning rain forests, the region
has a major issue. A lack of water
resources. The countries have a lot
 of poverty, and governments are
therefore not able to supply their
 citizens with clean and fertilized
water. That makes the region very
 poor concerning water resources.
Map of the Caribbean
Description of location
As the map shows, the region of the
  Caribbean is surrounded by water.
  All countries are islands.
  Desalination systems would be very
  useful, however the governments
of the countries in the region do
not have enough money to install
and take care of these systems.
Social impacts
The problem is that the water pipes,
  for example, aren’t clean enough
to be used to wash clothes or
dishes. This can harm citizens and
get them sick, spreading the illness
  around. People also drink that
  water which isn’t fresh, therefore,
people can get really sick too, and
  not only citizens, tourists also.
Political Impacts
Fresh water is very important to human needs. This
is what governments in the Caribbean
understand, however, they don’t always respect
those needs for their citizens. The money citizens
make and that is sent to the government, isn’t
   always used appropriately, concerning their
country’s needs. The lack of fresh water doesn’t
   attract tourists anymore, therefore the
government starts to care a lot less about their
citizens, and start thinking about themselves and
   their own needs.
Economic Impact
As tourists aren’t attracted to the
  region anymore, the economy of
  the country is dropping
  dramatically. The government is
getting less money to pay their
workers, and this is affecting the
  country. Government doesn’t have
enough money to take care of the
  water pipes used for toilets,
  showering and other types of
Environmental Impacts
As the water resources are shortened, water pipes
used to carry human waste start emptying in the
nature and in the ocean. Usually, the water
carrying waste is a little clean, but now it isn’t.
The waste is emptied in the ocean, where animals
get affected, and they either die, or transmit
sickness to other animals. Also, when natural
hazards such tsunamis occur, as the fresh water
resources in pipes aren’t well taken care of, the
tsunami will free all the fresh water supplies into
the street and this will cause some water loss.
Possible Solution
A way to help the region could be by
  posting notices in Latin America,
and the United States of America so
citizens are aware of what is
  happening and they have the
chance to donate money to the
governments so they are able to
maybe get fresh water systems, or
  improve their water pipes, by
  making them more solid. This
system will help the economy of
  most important countries to climb,
The End
