Sad water facts•From beginning of my presentation approximately 20 children have diedfrom water related diseases•Around 4 million people die each year from them•Half of the world’s hospitalizations are due to water related diseases• More than 1 billion people use less than six liters of water• Average American uses more than 500 liters•If we did nothing other than provide access to clean waterwe could save 2 million lives a year
  7. 7. •Nearly 443 million school days are unattended •Only 62% of the world’s population has access to improved sanitation •200 million hours are wasted every day from women for gathering water •Ancient Romans had better water quality than half the people live on the earth now•More people have a mobile phone than access to the toilet

Simple steps to take •Shorten your shower time •Turn off faucets tightly after using •Immediately fix leaks •Use a water-efficient showerhead•Have your plumber re-route your gray water to trees and gardens •Report broken pipes, open hydrants and errant sprinklers •Equip fountains and swimming pools with recirculation equipment •Group plants with the same watering needs together •Turn off the tap while brushing teeth •Wash your fruits and vegetables in a pan of water
