Lean Six Sigma Certification Introduction - Presentation Transcript

  1. Lean Six Sigma or Six Sigma Certification John Wellwood
  2. What is certification ?
    • Confirmation that you have achieved a learning standard in Lean Six Sigma or Six Sigma
    • However there is no recognised standard
    • Why?
      • Large companies want to do it their own way
      • Every company does it slightly different
      • There is no assessment body
      • High costs of external certification
  3. Why is certification important?
    • There has to be a way of proving that you have not only completed your Lean Six Sigma training but also that you have applied it
    • Employers look for people who are certified. They know it is not an exact science but they still want certified Black and Green Belts
    • Smart employers know what to ask at interview. We ask 3 simple questions
      • Tell us about your training
      • Tell us about how you certified
      • Tell us about the projects you have run
  4. How do I certify?
    • The best practise certification process which companies like GE and Motorola use so so do we at 100% Effective Training is outlined below
    • Black Belts
      • Complete all the days of your training course
      • Pass an exam at the end of the course
      • Complete to the end of the control phase 2 projects
      • Present the projects and then pass an interview on the DMAIC process and the tools and techniques
    • Green Belts
      • As above but you only need to complete 1 project
  5. Types of Project
    • The projects can be either past or present
    • They must demonstrate the use of the DMAIC approach
    • They must demonstrate use of the tools
    • They must provide a starting point for the interview discussion
    • Example projects
      • Improve the quality in a manufacturing line
      • Increase the productivity in a call centre
      • Reduce delivery costs
  6. What happened is I fail?
    • We generally don’t let people go for their certification interview until we know they are ready
    • However if you did show a lack of knowledge in a certain topic then we would provide you with some case study work which you would submit to us for review
  7. Common issues
    • Lots of companies out there say attend our training course and you are a certified Black Belt or Green Belt
    • Lots of companies don’t understand the difference between a trained and certified Black Belt or Green Belt
    • Lots of people have never had the chance to certify
  8. How can we help?
