Retirement usually results in leaving a major life structure—one
that provided social status, focus, purpose, and economic
resources. The potential loss of daily stimulation poses threats
to both cognitive and social functioning. Because so much of
one’s social status is linked to occupational attainment, leaving
a work role is almost like giving up a social identity" (Newman
& Newman, 2018).
Given the information and evidence you have read about later
