This document compares the key differences between iOS and Android mobile platforms. iOS uses Xcode and Swift for development while Android uses Android Studio and Java. Android apps are packaged as APKs and can be customized more than iOS apps which are packaged as IPAs. Both platforms are based on Unix operating systems but Android allows custom firmware while iOS does not.
