Most people go to church and have a easter egg hunt with their family.
3. What do you know about how it is celebrated in Spain? I don’t know anything about
how it’s celebrated in Spain.

5. When is it? the week leading up to easter.
6. Where are the processions going and why? to the parade and then to go to the
church.
7. What are brotherhoods and what is their purpose? hermandades and corfadías, to
perform public acts of religious observance.
8. What happens during Semana Santa? they have 60 processions
9. Who are Nazarenos and how are they dressed? people dressed in distinctive pointed
hoods and holding long candles, marching in silence.
10. What is at the beginning of the processions? In the middle? a great cross, the
nazarenos, a group of altar boys, the paso, music groups, and a number of penitentes
carrying wooden crosses.
11. What is a Paso? The pasos are a set of images set on top of a float.
12. What are 3 possible pasos? How old are some of them? Allegorical scene, Christ,
Virgin Mary. Some of them were carved in the 16th century.

13. Who are costaleros and what do they do? A team of men that support the beams of
the carvings up on their shoulders and necks. They transport the Pasos.
14. What is the traditional dress of women for this? La Mantilla (the mantle). for men? a

The costaleros are dedicated to the holiday because
they carry the large floats. My impression from
looking at the pictures, is that the people respect
this holiday. It is a very important and serious holiday
