to grand finale in Las Vegas
Welcome to the World Series of Grappling. This new groundbreaking Jiu-Jitsu promotion promises to take the
sport to a whole different level. The brain child of entrepreneurs Mike Ciprianni and Shawn Fowler, the WSG
was born destined to be something special. If you have ever had the dream of opening your own academy, your
dream is just one good WSG performance away.
The first season will extend through six months with events scattered all over North America. The first one is
already scheduled for July 28, in Los Angeles, California. New York, Miami, Dallas and Chicago are also
confirmed as host cities for the first season, which will feature Gi divisions only (The second season is already
planned as No-Gi only) . The WSG will have two weight classes: Up to 180lb and Over 180kg. There will also
be no belt color divisions. Competitors 16 years of age and older, from blue belt to black belt, will compete in
the same bracket.
Regular WSG matches will be 5 minutes long. The finals have three 5-minute rounds before a 5-judge panel.
Matches will be won via submission, referee stoppage, referee decisions, forfeiture, disqualification and injury.
No points or advantages will be awarded.
The WSG will award $725,000 in prizes all the way to the grand finale in Las Vegas Nevada. The top 10
athletes in each qualifying city will walk home with $20,000 in prizes. Athletes placing 11- 20th place, will
receive an automatic free entry into the next qualifying city for another opportunity to place in the Top10.
Athletes will have the ability, even if they win, to compete from city to city to win more cash prizes.
The grand finale in Las Vegas, Nevada, will offer another $100,000 in prizes and it will feature the best 50
grapplers coming from the qualifying events. If an athlete were to win all five qualifiers and the finals they
would walk away with $200,000 for that season and be crowned the champion for that season. There will also
be $25,000 prizes for teams/associations and academy with the most athletes in the top 20 in the Las Vegas
finals.
Come join us at the WSG and give us the opportunity to reward you for your hard work and dedication to the
great sport of Jiu-Jitsu. The World Series of Grappling is the only tournament where almost everyone wins,
even if you had a bad day. One of the main reasons we brought this to life is to give all the great Jiu-Jitsu
fighters an opportunity to fulfill their dreams without having to turn to MMA, which is great, but not for
everyone.
Get ready for the action. The World Series of Grappling is here to change the landscape of Jiu-Jitsu competition.
The first challenge is already scheduled for July 28, in Los Angeles, California. The registration period will
open soon. Know more about the WSG and read the complete rules set at worldseriesofgrappling.com. We look
