What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
1. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
2. Two different sectors of the
film industry
• Mainstream Films - A movie which has a lot of
financial backing.
• Independant Films - is a feature film that is
produced outside of the major film studio
system, in addition to being produced and
distributed by independent entertainment
agencies (google definition).
3. Mainstream Distributors
• ‘Wide Release’ - Lots of money on marketing.
• 'High concept movies’ - Equilibrium theorem.
• High profile name
5. Why Dimension Films?
I think if I had the choice of any distribution
company to put my movie out there I would hope
for Dimension Films due to its experience with
Scream (which is very similar to our film due to its
mine-en-scene and conventions).
Scream gained popularity with the help of
Dimension Films. In addition the reputation of
Dimension Films comes from a vast array of
movies which are well known.
7. Why Lionsgate?
On the other hand I believe that we could choose
Lionsgate for distribution because it has a great
reputation with horror films, which would help
audiences understand what our movie is easier.
9. Warp films
Warp Films would be a good match for our film, as
our film does use most of the mainstream codes
and conventions of a horror movie, but also have
elements of a type indie theme.
With the low budget, being with a independant
distributor, they have an insight in where you can
promote you product too.
