EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
NPN 21/64 in. (8.3mm) Drill Bit
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
Step 1: with the guidance of section 23 of service manual or the method outlined on
TechCONNECT, proceed by removing the front door trim panel.
Step 2: place the trim door panel on clean work area. Drill out the mounting boss heat
stakes that connects the existing door handle to the trim panel. Remember to take extra
caution to drill exactly in the center of each heat stake.
Step 3: after drilling, remove the existing handle/bezel from trim panel.
Step 4: get rid of the plastic fillings at the back of the trim panel.
Step 5: set the new handle into its position.
Step 6: fasten the nuts into the handle/bezel bosses.
3. Step 7: push the nuts all the way down by using a 10mm socket on the mounting
bosses. This is to secure firmly the handle/bezel into the door trim panel. Check it by
wiggling left and right the handle to ensure if it snug-fit.
Step 8: install the lock switch you got from the original handle/bezel into the new one.
Step 9: re-install the door trim panel following the same procedures outlined on
TechCONNECT or those that can be found on section 23 of the service manual.
