                             Premium Self-Leveling Underlayment Technology
           Description       SUPERCAP is a pumpable and pourable, cement-based, premium self-leveling underlayment based on a proprietary
SUPERCAP
                             mineral binder system that is used to finish concrete and level uneven floor surfaces. Apply it over concrete, wood and
                             other types of sound, rigid flooring before installing wood, resilient, cork, sports, ceramic, stone, carpet or other
                             flooring systems. Floor covering adhesives that are suitable for concrete can be used on SUPERCAP.

                             All test methods and procedures are described in “Testing Hydraulic Characteristics of SUPERCAP”; a document that is available upon request.
                             *Mix water demand may vary due to regional raw materials where SUPERCAP is manufactured and may cause slight variations in physical properties.

           How to Use        New Concrete Slabs: Bull float to FF of 12-15, adjust finished elevation by ⅝" for 2-course slab; curing compounds are
                             not recommended. New concrete should be allowed to cure for a minimum of 5 days prior to installation of SUPERCAP.
                             Concrete must be free from hydrostatic pressure.
                             Concrete Floors (general): Substrate must be well-bonded (ICRI Technical Guideline No. 03739) and completely clean;
                             free of oil, wax, grease, sealers, curing compounds, asphalt, paint, dirt, loose surface material and any contaminate that
                             will act as a bond-breaker. Surface bond strength of substrate should be minimum 100 psi (0.69 MPa). Weak concrete
                             surfaces must be cleaned down to solid sound concrete by mechanical means. Acid etching or chemical cleaning is not
                             acceptable. Expansion joints in the concrete substrate must be reflected through the applied layer SUPERCAP. Concrete
                             must be free from hydrostatic pressure. Fill deep areas and depressions with a SUPERCAP pre-fill or suitable cement-
                             based concrete repair product. Repair cracks with epoxy grout. Material will flow as water and will go anywhere water
                             will go (contact Product Technologies’ Technical Service Department for details).
                             Over Cutback and Adhesive Residue: Supercap can be installed over non-soluble adhesives residues such as Cutback.
                             Cutback adhesives may contain asbestos fibers whose inhalation resulting from sanding or grinding maybe harmful.
                             Thick accumulation, brittle, powdery residue or weak unbonded adhesive must be removed using the wet-scrape and
                             wet-sweep method as outlined in the Resilient Floor Covering Institute www.rfci.com booklet. Consult your local,
                             provincial and federal regulations before attempting to remove or dispose of hazardous material for further
                             instructions. Remaining residue needs to be translucent, clean and well bonded to the substrate readied for SUPERCAP
                             PRIMER. Installation over non-Cutback adhesives is possible provided the residue is solid, bonded to substrate and NOT
                             water soluble. Avoid applications where heat may soften the adhesive causing de-lamination.
                             Water Soluble Adhesive: Mechanically remove by shotblasting or other acceptable mechanical means leaving a
                             Concrete Surface Profile (ICRI CSP) 3-5. Other surface contaminates may also require mechanical removal.
Wood Surfaces: The substrate must be clean, solid and secure to provide a rigid base; any movement should be
                eliminated by re-nailing. Hardwood floors, ¾" tongue and groove, Type 1 Exterior plywood are acceptable wood
                substrates. Follow the instructions contained in SUPERCAP PRIMER Technical Data Sheet. Install 2.5 lb galvanized lath

                sheets overlapping by 1" and using an 8" stapling pattern. Encapsulate the lath with a minimum of ¾" SUPERCAP.Non-
                Porous Substrates: Terrazzo, ceramic and quarry tile, burnished concrete, and epoxy coatings must be solid, well
                bonded, clean and free of any bond breaking contaminates such as glazes, wax, oil, sealers etc. Surfaces must be
                mechanically abraded until a "profile" is obtained. All debris, dust and loose material must be vacuumed prior to
                installing SUPERCAP PRIMER. Follow instructions contained in "NON-SUCTION" portion of SUPERCAP PRIMER Data Sheet.
                Steel Decking: All metal sub-floors and substrates require written approval from the Technical Department of Product
                Technologies LLC, prior to installation.

Mixing          Bulk Sacks – Mixed in the PTI Pump Truck, a proprietary computer controlled mobile blending unit that mixes SUPERCAP
                onsite at street level to exact manufacturer specifications; operated by a PTI licensee.
                Small Bags – Precondition SUPERCAP to 70°F ±5° (21°C ±3°). Add the entire bag to 4.0 - 4.5 quarts (3.8 - 4.25 L) of clean,
                cool water and mix with a high power drill (650 RPM). CAUTION: DO NOT OVER WATER OR OVER MIX. OVER WATERING




                                                                                                                                                                                                   UPERCAP
                WILL CAUSE BLEEDING OR SAND SEGREGATION. Mix thoroughly for approximately 1½-2 minutes to obtain a uniform to
                lump-free consistency; scrape container’s sides and remix to incorporate remaining powder.
Application &   All substrates must be sound, stable and solid. Always prime the prepared surface with SUPERCAP PRIMER; allow
Finish          complete drying before the application of SUPERCAP, but do not exceed a 24-hour period. Surface must be primed again
                if 24-hour period is exceeded. Substrate temperature should be a minimum 43°F (+6°C) during application and air
                temperature maintained between 50-85°F (10-30°C). Protect areas from direct sunlight. Do not use damp curing
                methods or curing and sealing compounds. If required to meet level tolerances, survey surface using PTI’s LEVELER and
                apply LEVEL PEGS. Adequate ventilation should be provided to ensure uniform drying. Pour blended material onto
                substrate at an average thickness ranging between ¼" to 2" (7-50 mm) for all surfaces except lightweight concrete where
                a minimum thickness of ⅝ " and wood substrates minimum thickness of ¾" must be maintained. Immediately following
                placement lightly smooth the surface breaking surface tension and smoothing pour lines, when not using elevation pins
                the use of a gauge rack will assist in controlling material depth. Do not expose SUPERCAP to rolling dynamic loads, such
                as forklifts or scissor lifts, for at least 72 hours after installation. Proper application is the responsibility of the user. Field
                visits by Product Technologies personnel are for the purpose of making technical recommendations only and not for
                supervising or providing quality control on the jobsite.
Clean Up        In case of spillage, scoop or vacuum into appropriate container, and dispose of in accordance with current, applicable
                local, provincial and federal regulations. Keep container tightly closed and in an upright position to prevent spillage and
                leakage. Mixed components: When small amounts of SUPERCAP are splattered onto a painted surface, door, window or
                other finished surfaces, it can be removed with a clean white cloth that has been damped with clean potable water, even
                when dry. If the material is dry, allow the splatter to dampen and gently wipe while rotating the cloth.
Limitations     • Do not install SUPERCAP over particleboard, chipboard, hardboard (Masonite), Lauan panels, asbestos, gypsum-based
                  patching materials, asphalt, coal tar, or lightweight insulating concrete or any other dimensionally unstable materials.
                • SUPERCAP is not recommended for steel-wheeled traffic, exterior applications, or as a finished floor.
Caution         SUPERCAP may irritate eyes and skin and contains silica sand. Avoid contact with eyes, prolonged contact with skin or
                inhalation. In case of contact, flush thoroughly with water, wear protective gloves, goggles and respirator when dusty
                conditions exist. In confined areas, use of a NIOSH/MSHA approved respirator is recommended. Consult MSDS for
                additional information.
First Aid       In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water. For eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15
                minutes. Contact a physician. For respiratory problems, transport victim to fresh air.
                VOC Content: 0 grams/Liter or 0 pounds/gallon less water and exempt solvents.

Over Cutback and Adhesive Residue: Supercap can be installed over non-soluble adhesives residues such as Cutback. Cutback adhesives may contain asbestos fibers whose inhalation resulting from sanding or grinding maybe harmful. Thick accumulation, brittle, powdery residue or weak unbonded adhesive must be removed using the wet-scrape and wet-sweep method as outlined in the Resilient Floor Covering Institute www.rfci.com booklet. Consult your local, provincial and federal regulations before attempting to remove or dispose of hazardous material for further instructions. Remaining residue needs to be translucent, clean and well bonded to the substrate readied for SUPERCAP PRIMER. Installation over non-Cutback adhesives is possible provided the residue is solid, bonded to substrate and NOT water soluble. Avoid applications where heat may soften the adhesive causing de-lamination. Water Soluble Adhesive: Mechanically remove by shotblasting or other acceptable mechanical means leaving a Concrete Surface Profile (ICRI CSP) 3-5. Other surface contaminates may also require mechanical removal.
  • 2. Wood Surfaces: The substrate must be clean, solid and secure to provide a rigid base; any movement should be eliminated by re-nailing. Hardwood floors, ¾" tongue and groove, Type 1 Exterior plywood are acceptable wood substrates. Follow the instructions contained in SUPERCAP PRIMER Technical Data Sheet. Install 2.5 lb galvanized lath TM TM sheets overlapping by 1" and using an 8" stapling pattern. Encapsulate the lath with a minimum of ¾" SUPERCAP.Non- Porous Substrates: Terrazzo, ceramic and quarry tile, burnished concrete, and epoxy coatings must be solid, well bonded, clean and free of any bond breaking contaminates such as glazes, wax, oil, sealers etc. Surfaces must be mechanically abraded until a "profile" is obtained. All debris, dust and loose material must be vacuumed prior to installing SUPERCAP PRIMER. Follow instructions contained in "NON-SUCTION" portion of SUPERCAP PRIMER Data Sheet. Steel Decking: All metal sub-floors and substrates require written approval from the Technical Department of Product Technologies LLC, prior to installation. SS U P E R C A P Mixing Bulk Sacks – Mixed in the PTI Pump Truck, a proprietary computer controlled mobile blending unit that mixes SUPERCAP onsite at street level to exact manufacturer specifications; operated by a PTI licensee. Small Bags – Precondition SUPERCAP to 70°F ±5° (21°C ±3°). Add the entire bag to 4.0 - 4.5 quarts (3.8 - 4.25 L) of clean, cool water and mix with a high power drill (650 RPM). CAUTION: DO NOT OVER WATER OR OVER MIX. OVER WATERING UPERCAP WILL CAUSE BLEEDING OR SAND SEGREGATION. Mix thoroughly for approximately 1½-2 minutes to obtain a uniform to lump-free consistency; scrape container’s sides and remix to incorporate remaining powder. Application & All substrates must be sound, stable and solid. Always prime the prepared surface with SUPERCAP PRIMER; allow Finish complete drying before the application of SUPERCAP, but do not exceed a 24-hour period. Surface must be primed again if 24-hour period is exceeded. Substrate temperature should be a minimum 43°F (+6°C) during application and air temperature maintained between 50-85°F (10-30°C). Protect areas from direct sunlight. Do not use damp curing methods or curing and sealing compounds. If required to meet level tolerances, survey surface using PTI’s LEVELER and apply LEVEL PEGS. Adequate ventilation should be provided to ensure uniform drying. Pour blended material onto substrate at an average thickness ranging between ¼" to 2" (7-50 mm) for all surfaces except lightweight concrete where a minimum thickness of ⅝ " and wood substrates minimum thickness of ¾" must be maintained. Immediately following placement lightly smooth the surface breaking surface tension and smoothing pour lines, when not using elevation pins the use of a gauge rack will assist in controlling material depth. Do not expose SUPERCAP to rolling dynamic loads, such as forklifts or scissor lifts, for at least 72 hours after installation. Proper application is the responsibility of the user. Field visits by Product Technologies personnel are for the purpose of making technical recommendations only and not for supervising or providing quality control on the jobsite. Clean Up In case of spillage, scoop or vacuum into appropriate container, and dispose of in accordance with current, applicable local, provincial and federal regulations. Keep container tightly closed and in an upright position to prevent spillage and leakage. Mixed components: When small amounts of SUPERCAP are splattered onto a painted surface, door, window or other finished surfaces, it can be removed with a clean white cloth that has been damped with clean potable water, even when dry. If the material is dry, allow the splatter to dampen and gently wipe while rotating the cloth. Limitations • Do not install SUPERCAP over particleboard, chipboard, hardboard (Masonite), Lauan panels, asbestos, gypsum-based patching materials, asphalt, coal tar, or lightweight insulating concrete or any other dimensionally unstable materials. • SUPERCAP is not recommended for steel-wheeled traffic, exterior applications, or as a finished floor. Caution SUPERCAP may irritate eyes and skin and contains silica sand. Avoid contact with eyes, prolonged contact with skin or inhalation. In case of contact, flush thoroughly with water, wear protective gloves, goggles and respirator when dusty conditions exist. In confined areas, use of a NIOSH/MSHA approved respirator is recommended. Consult MSDS for additional information. First Aid In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water. For eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Contact a physician. For respiratory problems, transport victim to fresh air. VOC Content: 0 grams/Liter or 0 pounds/gallon less water and exempt solvents.
