It also discusses not being short-sighted, facing persecution for one's faith, not being ashamed of Christ, and how stronger believers should support and help weaker believers. 1. Let these sayings sink down into your ears:
Any one who thinks they have all the answers
doesn’t know all the questions.
The more you know the more you see what you
don’t know.
Luke 9:43-44
43) And they were all amazed at the mighty
power of God. But while they wondered every
one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto
his disciples,
44) Let these sayings sink down into your
ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into
the hands of men.
The end of the verse is one statement, sayings
includes the previous statements He has been
making.
2. 2Tim 3:16-17
16) All scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17) That the man of God may be perfect,
throughly furnished unto all good works.
Prov 17:16
16) Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a
fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to
it?
3. profitable for doctrine:
1Kgs 12:6-7 6 And king Rehoboam consulted
with the old men, that stood before Solomon his
father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye
advise that I may answer this people? 7 And
they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a
servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve
them, and answer them, and speak good words
to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
1Kgs 12:13 And the king answered the people
roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that
they gave him;
for reproof, for correction,
1Kgs 11:1-2 1 But king Solomon loved many
strange women, together with the daughter of
Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites,
Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites; 2 Of the
nations concerning which the LORD said unto
the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to
them, neither shall they come in unto you: for
4. surely they will turn away your heart after their
gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.
for instruction in righteousness:
Rom 6:16-17 16 Know ye not, that to whom
ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his
servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin
unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the
servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the
heart that form of doctrine which was delivered
you.
Col 3:23-24 23 And whatsoever ye do, do it
heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the
reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord
Christ.
2Chr 12:13-14 13 So king Rehoboam
strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned:
for Rehoboam was one and forty years old
when he began to reign, and he reigned
seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the
5. LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel,
to put his name there. And his mother's name
was Naamah an Ammonitess. 14 And he did
evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek
the LORD.
Let these sayings sink down into your ears:
Luke 9:44
44) Let these sayings sink down into your
ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into
the hands of men.
6. Don’t be is near sighted
Luke 9:24
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it:
but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the
same shall save it.
Acts 20:23-24 23 Save that the Holy
Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that
bonds and afflictions abide me. 24 But none
of these things move me, neither count I my
life dear unto myself, so that I might finish
my course with joy, and the ministry, which
I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify
the gospel of the grace of God.
7. Blame = Shame
Luke 9:26
For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of
my words, of him shall the Son of man be
ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory,
and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.
Luke 12:8-9 8 Also I say unto you,
Whosoever shall confess me before men, him
shall the Son of man also confess before the
angels of God: 9 But he that denieth me before
men shall be denied before the angels of God.
Gal 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory,
save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by
8. whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto
the world.
2Tim 2:12-13 12 If we suffer, we shall also
reign with him: if we deny him, he also will
deny us: 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth
faithful: he cannot deny himself.
The Strong help the weak
Luke 9:40-41
40 And I besought thy disciples to cast him out;
and they could not. 41 And Jesus answering
said, O faithless and perverse generation, how
9. long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring
thy son hither.
A nurse carres for the helpless
Gal 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so
fulfil the law of Christ.
1Thess 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren,
warn them that are unruly, comfort the
feebleminded, support the weak, be patient
toward all men.
1Thess 2:7 But we were gentle among you,
even as a nurse cherisheth her children:
