Does salvation and eternal life with our Creator come just by belief only? Does it require ANY effort on our part? Is the typical Evangelical teaching about the "sinner's prayer" and "once saved, always saved" true or false?

How are we saved?

  1. 1. ARE WE SAVED BY GRACE, FAITH, WORKS, SOME COMBINATION... or JUST BELIEF?Answers straight from the Scriptures
  2. 2. How Are We Saved? Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my names sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. Matthew 19:17-26 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
  3. 3. How Are We Saved? Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Luke 13:23-24 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
  4. 4. How Are We Saved? John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name (character) of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 15:1, 11 And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved. But we believe that through the grace of the LORD Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
  5. 5. How Are We Saved? Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Romans 8:24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? Romans 9:27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
  6. 6. How Are We Saved? Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name (character) of the Lord shall be saved.
  7. 7. How Are We Saved? Romans 11:26 And so all (spiritual) Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

James 2:14-18 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
  9. 9. How Are We Saved? James 2:20, 26 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. 2 Thessalonians 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 1 Timothy 2:3-5 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 1 Peter 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
  11. 11. How Are We Saved? John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. Romans 2:7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

Matthew 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
  15. 15. How Are We Saved? Matthew 12:36-38 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. 17. 17. How Are We Saved? Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Galatians 2:17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. Galatians 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
  18. 18. How Are We Saved? Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
  20. 20. How Are We Saved? Matthew 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
