Volunteering just a few hours over the holiday season can help Literacy Chicago, one of Chicago's oldest and largest adult literacy organizations. For 40 years, Literacy Chicago has helped adult learners live better lives through free language and literacy services and finding jobs. Due to cuts in state support, their programs are threatened, so this holiday season they will partner with bookstores to provide complimentary gift wrapping in exchange for donations. Volunteers are needed to staff gift wrapping tables for two-hour shifts. Email Denise Penacerrada for more information about volunteering and an upcoming rally to help Literacy Chicago and its students.
1. What will you do to
FEEL GOOD
this holiday season?
How about volunteering just a few hours to help one of Chicago's oldest
and largest adult literacy organizations?
For 40 years, Literacy Chicago has transformed the lives of adult learners
through free language and literacy services that help them live better lives,
find jobs, and read with their children.
Downturns in state support have threatened our programs and
this holiday season we will be extra motivated in our fundraising efforts.
That's where you fit in. This holiday season, LC will partner with area
bookstores to provide complimentary gift wrap for purchases in exchange
for cash contributions to our organization. We need volunteers to staff our
wrapping tables for two-hour shifts. You, your colleagues, and your friends
have a great opportunity to donate just two hours at a time in an upbeat
environment—and to provide a great service to LC and its students.
To find out more: Email Denise Peñacerrada at

for more info and to learn about our upcoming volunteer rally in late
October.
Thanks for considering giving us a few hours over the holidays. We
promise it will get you in the holiday spirit and it will do great things for a
great organization.
