Jesus call is to an incarnational solidarity that results in proclamation of a good news which involves economic discipleship that brings transformation of the slums.
4. The promise is that a grain of wheat will
bear much fruit.
(John 12:24-26)
But it must die to itself.
From this home, out to many churches,
then to many cities, then to many
movements. I bring you greetings from
100’s of thousands now in the global
slums.
5. First Step, following Jesus in the Incarnation.
From the original Lifestyle and Values of Servants:
Following Jesus’ pattern, who “though he was
rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that
by his poverty we might become rich” (2
Corinthians 8:9), we commit ourselves to live
and work among the urban poor, to live as nearly
as possible to their standard of living, while
maintaining reasonable health and recognizing
emotional physical cultural and family limitations.
We intend always to master the language and
culture of the people among whom we minister.

In others there are still few churches, no movement.

12. Incarnation + Proclamation
Jesus’ call was never the incarnation.
That was simply process.
The aim is never just Vulnerable Mission.
That is only one step out of glory into
the cesspits of Kibera slums.
Jesus’ goal was never to be a babe in a manger
of a slum for the rest of eternity.
Rather he came to preach.
Good News. To the poor.
That good news includes healing, liberty from
oppression, freedom from poverty.
To set people free is to see slums
transformed.
13. Jesus’ Message of the Jubilee
• This theme of the Jubilee
becomes central to the New
Testament
–In the central passage around
which Luke builds his gospel and
the Acts, Luke 4:18, Jesus
declares his mission
–He inaugurates the Jubilee
eternally.
14. Principle 6: Redistribution
The Jubilee (Lev 25:8-17)
Every 50th year,
• It was a time of equalizing.
I. LIBERTY
• It is synonymous with the year of liberty.
• Slaves are to be set free.
II. DEBTS ARE TO BE CANCELED.
• Economic freedom is inherent in the gospel message.
III. CELEBRATION.
• Celebration is inherent in the gospel message.
IV. REDISTRIBUTION
• The means of production, the land was to be returned to the
original owners. Redistribution of the means of production is
inherent in the gospel message.
V. OWNERSHIP
• Even the Levites were to have their own home

16. Liberating Pastors from
oppressing their flocks
The effects of pastors
training their people in
productivity and creativity is
a switch of roles from
oppressor to servant.
The result is of increased
support for the pastor.
The pastors role is to teach
the biblical principles of
Kingdom economics.
