2. Age (12 points maximum) - this criterion is more emphasizes on young workers. Research
shows that young immigrants integrate faster into the labor market and contribute more to the
economy. The revised selection benefits young immigrants by awarding 12 points up to 35 years.
3. Education (25 points maximum) - points were previously awarded on the basis of credential
education of the applicant in their country. The new criterion requires a mandatory assessment of
foreign educational credential equal to complete credential education in Canada.
4. Work experience (15 points maximum) - as weak success of foreign work experience in labor
market of Canada. CIC reduces the total number of points for work experience from 21 to 15
points.
5. Arranged employment (10 points maximum) - federal skilled worker program evaluation showed
that person who immigrate with valid job do well in Canada.
6. Adaptability (10 points maximum) – the adaptability criteria is to emphasize the factors to have a
positive impact on immigrant integration.
The new federal skilled worker program will enable to select young workers who are proficient in French
and English, who can integrate successfully and faster into the labor market of Canada. These changes
will also help Canadian government to meet the stated goal of economy.
