Two Canada Immigration Programs Open in January 2024
Canada is expanding its immigration pathways by opening two new programs to new applicants in January 2024.
These programs are designed to attract skilled workers and experienced caregivers to meet the country's labour market needs.

Caregivers Pilot Programs
The Caregivers Pilot Programs offer permanent residency (PR) to applicants who have worked in Canada as caregivers for at least
one year.
There are two categories under the program:
Gaining Experience Category: This category is for applicants who have less than 12 months of experience in caregiving
occupations. Eligible candidates will receive a work permit to gain the necessary experience and can then apply for PR.
Direct to Permanent Residency (PR) Category: This category is for applicants who have at least 12 months of experience in
caregiving occupations. Eligible applicants can apply directly for PR.
Occupations Eligible for Caregivers Program
The following occupations are eligible for the Caregivers Pilot Programs:
Home child care providers (NOC 44100): Babysitter, Child care live-in caregiver, Child care provider – private home, Nanny,
Parent’s helper, Babysitter – fitness centre, Babysitter – shopping centre

Agri-Food Pilot
The Agri-Food Pilot offers PR to individuals who have worked in the agriculture and food processing industry in Canada for at
least one year. The program has a maximum annual cap of 2,750 applicants.
Occupations Eligible for Agri-Food Pilot
NOC 63201: Butchers, retail and wholesale
NOC 65202: Meat cutters and fishmongers – retail and wholesale
NOC 94141: Industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers and related workers
NOC 82030: Agricultural service contractors and farm supervisors
NOC 84120: Specialized livestock workers and farm machinery operators
NOC 85100: Livestock labourers
NOC 95106: Labourers in food and beverage processing
Eligibility Requirements for Both Programs
Have at least a high school diploma
Meet the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4 in English or French
Have a valid job offer from an eligible employer in Canada
How to Apply for Caregivers Program and Agri-Food Pilot
Applications for both programs will open in January 2024. Interested applicants are encouraged to visit the Immigration,
Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website for more information and to submit their applications.
Additional Information
Both programs have a limited number of spots, so it is important to apply early.
The Agri-Food Pilot has relatively low language proficiency requirements, making it an attractive option for those with lower
English or French language skills.
Family members of applicants who have received an acknowledgement of receipt letter for the Agri-Food Pilot are eligible to
