Check to box and click Next.
4. Opt-in to Receive Emails from TRAIN
TRAIN will not send you spam. Checking this box ensures that you receive
confirmations and updates to courses you’ve registered for and changes to the
system.
5. Enter Your Legal Name
This should be the first and last name that appear on your paycheck.
6. Enter your VDH email address
If you are a contractor or work for another organization, use that email
address. This is an important field because it enables TRAIN to talk to the
Knowledge Center so that your transcript is current.
8. Select something you will remember
Our Distance Learning Coordinator uses this to verify your identity when you
call for assistance. We strongly recommend using mother’s maiden name.
9. This next section looks
simple, but it’s extremely
important that you get it right.
10. Select Groups Beside State Portal
If you make the correct selections, you will see all of the courses you will need.
If you don’t, you won’t.
11. Are you an EMS provider?
Make the correct selection.
12. Select State Agency and Dept of Health
You will need to pause after each selection and wait for the next drop-down to
load. After you select Department of Health, select Central Office or VA Health
Districts.
13. Central Office Employees…
Select the office to which your work unit reports. Pause and wait for the next
drop-down list load. Then, select your specific office. Finally, click Submit. You
will return to the Group Selection screen.
15. Select a CDC group
You would only select groups for the MRC portal if that applies to you.
However, everyone should select groups for the CDC portal.
16. Select a Community of Practice
You can select whichever group you like. There is no wrong choice. Making this
selection will ensure that you can see any courses that the CDC publishes in TRAIN.
17. Click Next
Once you’ve selected the correct groups, you should be able to see all of the
courses that you may need to take.
To create an account, click Create Account on the left. Make sure that you only create one account. If you forget your password, click the Forgot Your Password link.
Agree to the TRAIN policies.
And then you’ll see the form that you need to complete. Make sure that you check the box to receive email notifications. If you don’t check this, you won’t receive registration confirmations, course materials and any updates from instructors about courses for which you’ve registered.
Two of the fields that you need to pay close attention to are first and last name. Please don’t enter any nicknames. You should enter your name as it appears on your paycheck.
For email address, use your work email address, not a personal email address. If you are a state employee, this is your VDH email address. If you are a contractor and you work for another organization, use that one. This is critical. This is the field that links to the Knowledge Center to make sure your transcript includes courses taken there through TRAIN.
For organization name, type Virginia Department of Health. Spell all of the words. Don’t use any abbreviations.
Think carefully about the question you select. The answer to this question will give you your password if you forget it. You don’t want to select a question that has an answer that could change in the future, like best friend’s name or favorite pet. We strongly recommend that you select Mother’s Maiden Name.
On the group selection page, you’ll need to select a group in the State Portal
You’ll need to say whether or not you are an EMS provider
And select State Agency, Department of Health and whether or not you work in Central Office or a Health District.
If you select Central Office, you’ll then need to select the office that your work unit reports to, then your specific office.
If you select Virginia Health Districts, you get a list of regions and you will select yours. Once you click submit, you’ll return to the group selection page.
…and the CDC Portal. If you are a member of the MRC, you will select a portal there as well.
Select your community of practice, then click submit,
Click Next
Identify your professional role. You can select up to 3 roles.
Next, select up to 3 work settings
Enter yourdemographic information
You’ll see a screen that asks if you are a current VDH employee. Select Yes from the drop-down menu.If you are a contractor or a city or county employee, select No.
Select your race/ethnicity from the drop-down menu.
And check the box if you are a manager or supervisor.
