6. PREFACE
By Derby,Conn, in August,1935
• It has been used more than 100 years
• The book has fallen into disuse because of the practicable
application by the younger generation in past few years, it is
because they have had knowledge of its philosophical
background.
• Every man (homoeopath) who has worked hard has built
on some principles. If we utilize these works, we shall see
the wisdom of the past flowering in the healing of the
present.

10. Repertory uses by H. A. Roberts
• Value of repertory depends upon :-
1. The art of the physician in taking the case.
2. The knowledge of the repertory one attempts to use
a) Philosophical background
b) Its construction
c) Its limitations
d) Its adaptability
3. Intelligent use of resulting analysis
11. Art of physician in taking the
case
1. Subjective symp. +Objective symp. = Totality
2. Conversion of symp. To rubrics
3. Modalities (agg. & amel.) imp. To unlock the
similimum
4. Every symp. Shud be completed in itself [L S M C]
5. Complete the incomplete symp. By theory of
Analogy
6. Every symp. That refers to the part may be
predicted of the whole man
12. 7. The totality is to the disease, what the man is to
the ego.
8. Division of symp. Into Pri. and Sec. based on
Theory of logic
9. Symp. Appear in grtly varying conditions in
proving and in sickness
10.The symp. Of the remedy must correspond
perfectly to the symp. Of the disease
11.It is the buisiness of the physician accurately to
observe, faithfully record & scientifically clarify
the phenomena of disease for the purpose of
discovering and applying the curative remedy.
13. 12. The S/A of the remedy is discovered by assembling
under one schema all the symp. Of many provers.
13. Genus Epidemicus- Depends on study of many
cases fr the purpose of observation which focuses
on totality
14. Symp. Of a remedy as observed in provings cant be
found in any given case
15. dis + remedy = Totality
16. Wish : All the world’s physician (homoeopath) will
understand each other and also prescribe with
safety one and the same remedy for identical
morbid symptoms and not for the identical names
of disease
14. Construction of the Repertory
• PHILOSOPHICAL BACKGROUND :
Complete symptom
location, sensation ,modality, concomitance
• Doctrine of analogy – grand generalisation
• Doctrine of concomitant
• Evaluation of remedies
