3. What is Covid – 19 ?
• COVID-19 is a disease caused by the “novel
corona virus”. Most Common symptoms are:

4. How does COVID-19
spread?
• COVID-19 spreads mainly by droplets produced as a result
of coughing or sneezing of a COVID-19 infected person.
This can happen in two ways:

• One can get the infection by being in close contact
with COVID-19 patients (within one Metre of the infected
person), especially if they do not cover their face when
coughing or sneezing.
Indirect
Contact
• The droplets survive on surfaces and clothes for
many days. Therefore, touching any such infected surface
or cloth and then touching one’s mouth, nose or eyes can
transmit the disease.

The incubation period of COVID 19 (time
between getting the infection and showing
symptoms) is 1 to 14 days
Some people with the infection, but without
any serious symptoms can also spread the
disease.

clinical practice :
• Delegate duties to nonspecialty nurses
because of a lack of manpower due to
care for severely ill COVID-19 patients.
• Managing breathlessness: Controlled
breathing techniques, including
positioning, pursed-lip breathing,
breathing exercises, and coordinated
breathing training

• Nursing related to oxygen therapy,
medication, nutritional support,
psychological support, and condition
monitoring
• Disposable cap, surgical mask, gown,
face shield or goggles, protective
clothing outside the work clothing (such
as a white coat), medical rubber gloves,
and hand sanitizer

• Provide intense education and training
that includes the use of personal
protective equipment, hand hygiene,
ward disinfection, and so on; establish
a scientific and reasonable shift
schedule; and take full advantage of
the infection control system.

nursing staff, implement and ensure that
policies and procedures are adhered to,
ensure education of the nursing staff,

helps to manage physical needs, prevent
illness, and treat health conditions.
