The Tausug people of the Philippines follow formal greetings and customs. They greet with handshakes starting with the eldest and say goodbye in the same way. They avoid pointing and instead gently motion downward or make a "psssst" sound to get someone's attention. As Muslims, they do not use their left hand for food or touching people and do not depict animals or humans. Tausug men enjoy gambling and see protecting their clan as their foremost role, even risking their lives for distant relatives, explaining their affinity for guns. Proper etiquette includes bringing small gifts as thanks and arriving no more than 30 minutes late to larger events.
