Our Lives are Crowded with Products
Nowadays markets are crowded with products of different types and needs. Companies produce tons
of food and clothes, and thousand of cars every day. New models of products are issuing faster than
previous generation of it becomes old. For example, Apple Corporation issues new iPhones every year
despite of the fact that previous models are still good for use. This huge amount of new products
requires a huge amount of advertising. As a consequence, our everyday life is surrounded with
different kinds of advertising. We see ad on the streets when we walk out our dog, we see listen it on
the radio while driving our cars coming back from a job, we see it in our favorite magazines and
newspapers. A flow of advertising from all sources of media bombards our attention. Big corporations
claim that they know what product is better for us. They manipulate our feelings; by playing with
people desire of financial success, social power and, the most important, freedom and independence.
This can be seen by analyzing a random advertising from a random magazine. In this advertisement in
TIME magazine, TOYOTA targets young adults, middle working class professionals, who want fast
and powerful car without spending much money on gas. It appeals to audience's desire by repeating
TOYATA's brand and through direct and indirect messages conveyed by words and images.
TOYOTA Camry ad targets men or women in the age range between eighteen and, probably, middle
or late twentieth who wants ride fast,

Toyota Group And Its Organizational Strategy
Toyota positioned itself in the American auto market and defined its organizational strategy as high
quality, innovative engineering and producing some of the safest auto mobiles on the road, and in one
fell swoop, the integrity and quality of their vehicles were not only brought into question, but many
consumers looked elsewhere for their automotive needs. The Toyota group and its subsidiaries has had
a prominence in Japan for years, but the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries
(OAPEC) embargo of 1973 allowed Japan to bring its kaizen work ethic to the US and begin to gain
an automotive presence that allowed Toyota to compete with America's big three: Ford, GM and
Chrysler. The big three controlled the market up until this point and it would take some time but by
1980 Toyota was the fourth leading manufacturer in the US and poised to gain ground and by 2008
Toyota, Honda and Nissan made prolific jumps with around 32% of the market share. Unfortunately
the economic recession slowed all manufacturers' growth but trends such as forty–three–year–old
Hyundai has surpassed 107 year–old Ford in global sells would mark the end of the big three reigns,
with GM and Chrysler taking part in the controversial automotive bailout in 2009. This also harkened
back to the belief those automakers had little vigilance on the market and their long term control left
them vulnerable to better organizational strategies. Market growth in the US had become stagnant by
2008 so

Toyota Case Study : Toyota Motor Corporation
Introduction of Toyota
Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese multinational corporation, which is famous for manufacturing
affordable quality automobiles. Toyota entered to the U.S. market in 1957. It took Toyota more than
40 years to take 10% share of U.S. market. Almost 50 year after entering the U.S. market, Toyota

Review of the Recalls in January 2010
Since 2007, Toyota has experienced a series of car model recalls because of serious potential defects
such as unexpected acceleration, brake system defects, steering malfunction and so on. However, the
trigger of the massive recalls is the report of a fiery crash in California. On August 28 2009, a Lexus
ES350, driven by a California state trooper crashed, resulting in the driver's death and three members
of his family. The cause of the crash was sudden unintended acceleration(Fisher, 2010).
On September 29 2009, Toyota took external action on the mat problem, approximately one month
after the crash by announcing a recall.
On October 5 2009, Toyota sent direct mailings to advise the owners of target type cars to remove the
floor mats from their vehicles. At the same time, however, a Toyota executive insisted that there was
no design defect in the car. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), however,
took a different view, arguing that there might be some problem in the pedal as

RECONSTRUCTION:
Pre–Crash:
On 05–25–2015 at approximately 1940 hours, Vehicle 1 was westbound on County Road 672, east of
Dupree Road. The driver of Vehicle 1, for reasons unknown, drove off the north side of CR 672 and
onto a grassy shoulder. Vehicle 1 drove approximately 229 feet through the grass before he returned to
the roadway. In returning to the roadway, Driver 1 overcorrected his steering and continued in a
southwest direction across both lanes of CR 672, for approximately 76 feet, as Vehicle 1 rotated
slightly in a counterclockwise direction. As Vehicle 1 left the south road edge, Driver 1 again tried to
overcorrect and began to rotate in a clockwise direction, as he drove onto the grassy shoulder.

I used Limpert's analysis of a rotating vehicle for the distance of 76 feet. The result of this speed loss
was less than 1 mile per hour in the overall speed loss of Vehicle 1 and was not factored into the
overall speed loss for Vehicle 1.
After leaving the south side of the roadway, and driving onto a grass shoulder, Vehicle 1 began to
rotate in a clockwise direction, for a distance of approximately 45.16 feet. To determine the speed loss
over this distance, the percentage of braking of Vehicle 1 in relation to the rotation angle, must be
considered.
I utilized the coefficient of friction values based on skid testing conducted by the Institute of Police
Technology and Management, (IPTM). IPTM testing, indicates a coefficient of friction of .90 – 1.50
for a vehicle furrowing.
For this speed analysis, I used Limpert's analysis of a rotating vehicle. I utilized the sine value of the
angle determined by the path of travel of Vehicle 1 versus the angle of approach at measured distances
during the rotation. In conjunction with the standard speed loss equation, the sine value is applied to
the coefficient of friction value. The result based on this analysis is a speed loss range of 22.85 mph to
29.50 miles per hour during

The Stylish Way Of Advertising
The stylish way of advertising As competition increases between automotive brands, advertisement of
their vehicles start to change. Each brand tries to draw everyone's attention and persuade people into
buying their vehicles. Some strategies consist of targeting specific audiences and grabbing their
attention with the use of action–packed images. One particular automotive brand that uses this
strategy is the Toyota Motor Corporation, especially for the newer models. To actually see this
strategy we have to analyze some of their ads and their components with greater detail. The first ad,
published by the Toyota Motor Corporation to advertise their family sedan, the Camry. Being one of
the best–selling sedans in the market, and considering Toyota's Slogan: "Let's Go Places", this ad

that first grab our attention. In this case, the wording in the left of the ad that says: "THE BOLD NEW

me to look at the Camry. The way the vehicle is placed, makes it pop right at you when you look at it,

Emergency Medical Technician Accident Identification Report
In the early morning hours of the January 18, 2014, in Wright County, Minnesota there was a deadly
head–on collision between an ambulance from Allina Health Emergency Medical Services and
another vehicle. The weather conditions at the time of the incident were described as hazardous with a
limited visibility of approximately thirty yards due to thick heavy snow conditions and a thick blanket
of snow on the road which made road condition hazardous. The unit was transporting a patient to a
local hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment due to medical complaint. The Emergency
Medical Technician (EMT)at the wheel of the unit was apparently driving at a speed of approximately

When operating an emergency vehicle, the driver must always exercise extreme caution and due
regard for others; especially when forced to operate them in less than ideal conditions such as
inclement weather. The articles author wrote the operator was driving with poor visibility due to
heavy snow conditions, a heavy blanket of snow on the roadway, and at a speed of approximately 35
miles per hour, but still able to safely control the unit even with the hazardous weather and road
conditions. In addition, he wrote the driver was running over the rubble strips usually found in the
outside emergency lane to ensure he knew the unit's position on the roadway and hopefully to give
extra room to other travelers on the roads that morning. The article was unclear if the red light and
siren were activated during the transport at the time of the incident. I feel the driver of the unit was
exercising due regard for the safety of himself, crew member, patient, and all others they may contact
that dreadful January morning. However, I do believe he should have activated their emergency lights
and further reduced their speed to possibly give himself and other drivers extra reaction time to avoid
collisions of this type. However, I do not believe the recommendations above would have

Toyota's Production System ( Tps )
Toyota Production System As part of Toyota Global, Toyota Australia inherited legendary Toyota
Production System (TPS). TPS was created by the founder of Toyota Motor Corporation as 'a set of
principles that have been proven in day–to–day practice over many years' (Toyota Australia n.d.) TPS
has three desired outcomes: To provide the customer with the highest quality vehicles, at lowest
possible cost, in a timely manner with the shortest possible lead times. To provide members with work
satisfaction, job security and fair treatment. It gives the company flexibility to respond to the market,
achieve profit through cost reduction activities and long–term prosperity. (Toyota Australia n.d.) TPS
consists of Kaizen, Just In Time (JIT), and Jidoka. Kaizen means never stop improving. Toyota
encourages its employees to not only follow the rules, but also improve the rules to achieve highest
productivity. Just In Time means to produce necessary units in the necessary quantities at the
necessary time. Jidoka means automation with a human touch (Toyota Australia n.d.). Toyota
Australia utilises its manufacturing plant in Althona, Victoria to produce cars in five departments.
Firstly, powertrain department produces engine components. Once the engine is finished, it is sent
directly to assembly department. Secondly, Press plant manufactures steel panels such as side panels,
roof panels and bottom panels using press machine. Thirdly, welding shop department fastens and

Fathers are the most important part of the family as they take care of the children when they are
growing up, and they work day and night to pay for their studies and all of the other expenses. They
remain the guardian of the children until their deaths. They are also the most sincere persons to their
children. They suffer all of their life to ease the life of their children and save them from the hardships
that they experience in their life. Children feel safe in the presence of their father in their childhood.
Moreover, fathers also sacrifice the most important things in life for the betterment of their children.
These are all of the reasons that the most of the brands are targeting the feelings of compassion and
love of the fathers for their children nowadays. Toyota has also linked the relationship between the
father and the children in a very touchy way that it left everyone speechless in the super bowl who
witnessed their advertisement. The product of the ad was the newly launched model of the Toyota
Camry, which is the latest addition to the luxury cars market of the United States of America. The
marketing managers of the Toyota have recently changed the positioning of their brand in which they
have tried to reshape their brand image in the mind of their consumers. Toyota have positioned their

The early twentieth century was dominated with several multibillion companies. Some of these
companies included the three major motor companies often named as the (Big 3). These were the
General Motor, Chrysler and Ford. Toyota came up and replaced Chrysler and became the world
number two after knocking out Ford in the year 2003. Since the year 2008, Toyota has remained on
the world charts as the largest automaker in the world.
Why Toyota?
There are several reasons why Toyota was chosen for this report. Some of them include the fact that
Toyota managed to experience a significant growth in its global sales not only boosting its profits but
pushing it to the top of the automobile industry. The other key issues that also became known include
the design of Toyota global production and their distribution network. The principal purpose for any
company to do a strategic planning is to develop a shared understanding by all stakeholders in a
business, of the implications and trends that take place in the everyday business operations (Abraham,
2012). Through strategic planning, a company has the opportunity to develop its mission and vision
statements. This help to describe and define the purpose of the company in relation to its operation
and interests of its shareholders at a particular time. Through planning, companies are able to set

Sweatshops Have Been Scrutinized Around The World Essay
"Sweatshops are work environments that possess three major characteristics: long hours, low pay, and
unsafe or unhealthy working conditions" (Childress, 2014). Sweatshops have been scrutinized around
the world and have been around for a very long time. For a period of time it was called slavery
because even some skilled slaves earned some money. Sweatshops are still thriving, even in today's
global economy. It is the corporations, stakeholders, and a global responsibility to ensure sweatshops
go away forever, but is it possible? Toyota was accused of such practices back in 2002 and today
claim that they no longer practice voluntary overtime. Corporations have a responsibility to the
stakeholders. Their primary stakeholders are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a solid business, Toyota should have realized they needed to hire more people to work, not force
the current employees to work more. If Toyota would have done this, they would have not only
championed new world thinking, but also would have created more jobs to hire more people thus
helping lower unemployment in those countries. Corporations need to be held accountable for making
sure they do not operate sweatshops. With such high demand for lower and lower prices, companies
are scrambling to try and beat out their competition. With this demand, companies appear to be trying
their ethics practices. Toyota was no different, they were trying to keep the price of their vehicles
down so that customers in the United States would purchase them over domestic and other
international brands. To achieve this they were using the excuse of voluntary overtime, which was not
actually voluntary. Because the employees needed jobs, they worked all the hours without getting paid
extra. Part of the problem was cultural. Japanese believe they are part of the organization and will do
whatever is needed to not lose face for them or the company. Also, Japan has a medium power index,
indicating that people will not usually question a manager; they will do what they are told
(Beamer/Varner, 2010). Toyota needs to understand moral relativism, that all cultures have valid
principles. No one rule can apply everyone working in an organization, especially large corporations.

Experiment With The 100 Mit's Sloan School Of Management
Why Everything Is Relative Even When It Shouldn't Be?
Everything is relative based off the decoy effect. The experiment with the 100 MIT's Sloan School of
Management. They opted ad follows:
1. Internet only subscription for $59.00–$16.00
2. Print–only subscription for $125.00–zero students
3. Print–and–Internet subscription for $125.00 84 students
No one selected the decoy option print only. After removing the decoy options only 68 students
choose the internet only options for $59.00 and sales had increased by 16 students. Only 32 students
selected print and internet for $125.00, which was down by 84 students. After, removing the decoy 32
was for print and internet and 68 for internet only. Relative helps make decisions, and human behavior
steers us to make comparison and a decoy helps us make a simple relative comparison. My life
experience is when I purchased a vehicle, I knew that I wanted my car payments to be $300.00 a
month or lower. However, I know that I did not want a compact vehicle, after driving a Nissan
Maxima V6 engine and sunroof cloth seats. I realized, I did not want another Nissan due to fuel
ignition issue that had recalls from 2000–2006. It was a red flag they could not get this right. As a
result, I based my decisions on comparison to a Toyota Camry verses Nissan Maxima. The 1999
Toyota Camry and Nissan Maxima the Maxima was about looked better than Camry and it was about
$2000.00 more than the Camry. I choose the Camry because, you see more used

main strategy for the North American market is to aim for higher sales, while raising the proportion of
locally produced automobiles. Toyota Motor Corp have reached a stage where investments made over
the last several years to expand production capacity are beginning to show returns and improved
profitability can be expected. Toyota's goal is to bolster local production through additional
investment, and contribute to the regional economy by expanding its operations. At present, our
production capacity in North America is approximately 1.25 million units (including our joint venture
with GM). However, Toyota Motor Corp plan to boost this to 1.45 million units during 2003.
Thus far, our product strategy of successively expanding our model range, from smaller cars to luxury
sedans, full–sized pickup trucks, large SUVs, and crossover vehicles has proved successful. In a bid to
further extend our customer base, we have established the Scion marketing group, which will develop
a range of vehicles targeting young, first–time car buyers. With respect to environmental issues,
Toyota's hybrid automobile Prius, which was introduced to the North American market in 2000, has

However, the horsepower increases to 200 during hard acceleration, when the gasoline engine and the
electric motor are working in tandem. Off–the–line acceleration is admirable, causing the front wheels
to spin at times. On the highway, the Toyota Camry Hybrid has no loss of power, especially during
those times when it is needed.
Beyond the hybrid's respectable performance, its handling corresponds to what other sedans in this
segment provide – a relatively uninvolved experience. Steering is light to the touch and what most
drivers should find tuned to their satisfaction. Braking is firm and confident.
For hybrid drivers desiring to optimize fuel economy, the sedan should be operated in Eco mode. The
normal mode is the default mode and does not have a corresponding button. Both EV and Eco modes
are controlled by separate switches located between the front seats. The EV mode allows the Camry
Hybrid to operate at speeds of up to 25 mpg as an electric vehicle, but not for more than one mile.
Operating in anything but normal mode impedes performance, but the trade off is improved fuel
efficiency.
The EPA rates the 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid at 43 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway.

Toyota 's Ethics And Corporate Social Responsibility
The purpose of this report is to examine if the reasoning behind well–known car manufacturer,
Toyota's loss of revenue and leading market position is alone as a result of extensive product recalls
following a fatal crash of a Lexus ES 350 on August 28th 2009. The journal article, "Toyota Crisis:
Management Issue?" (Yuanyuan Feng 2010) provides an outline of the key factors that triggered the
2009 Toyota crisis, and explores whether the fall in the company's returns by 19% were caused purely
as a result of the recall and safety concerns, or something much deeper. I am proposing that the issues
affecting Toyota's ability to rebuild cannot alone be fixed by remedying the safety and manufacturing
issues, but it must also work to rebuild the company's reputation and rebuild stakeholder trust. As
outlined by Stewart (2010), Toyota ended up with a full blown crisis on its hands largely because of
the delay and mediocre response from Toyota. These management practices call in to question
Toyota's ethical practices and their commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) principles. 2.
Discussion: In a world where loss of reputation can mean the difference between achieving positive
revenue, maintaining market position or suffering substantial losses, it has become increasingly
important to not only remain at the top of your field in manufacturing and innovation but to also
demonstrate sound ethical practices. In order to be seen as a valued organisation and most importantly

  • 7. Toyota Group And Its Organizational Strategy Toyota positioned itself in the American auto market and defined its organizational strategy as high quality, innovative engineering and producing some of the safest auto mobiles on the road, and in one fell swoop, the integrity and quality of their vehicles were not only brought into question, but many consumers looked elsewhere for their automotive needs. The Toyota group and its subsidiaries has had a prominence in Japan for years, but the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) embargo of 1973 allowed Japan to bring its kaizen work ethic to the US and begin to gain an automotive presence that allowed Toyota to compete with America's big three: Ford, GM and Chrysler. The big three controlled the market up until this point and it would take some time but by 1980 Toyota was the fourth leading manufacturer in the US and poised to gain ground and by 2008 Toyota, Honda and Nissan made prolific jumps with around 32% of the market share. Unfortunately the economic recession slowed all manufacturers' growth but trends such as forty–three–year–old Hyundai has surpassed 107 year–old Ford in global sells would mark the end of the big three reigns, with GM and Chrysler taking part in the controversial automotive bailout in 2009. This also harkened back to the belief those automakers had little vigilance on the market and their long term control left them vulnerable to better organizational strategies. After leaving the south side of the roadway, and driving onto a grass shoulder, Vehicle 1 began to rotate in a clockwise direction, for a distance of approximately 45.16 feet. To determine the speed loss over this distance, the percentage of braking of Vehicle 1 in relation to the rotation angle, must be considered. I utilized the coefficient of friction values based on skid testing conducted by the Institute of Police Technology and Management, (IPTM). IPTM testing, indicates a coefficient of friction of .90 – 1.50 for a vehicle furrowing. For this speed analysis, I used Limpert's analysis of a rotating vehicle. I utilized the sine value of the angle determined by the path of travel of Vehicle 1 versus the angle of approach at measured distances during the rotation. In conjunction with the standard speed loss equation, the sine value is applied to the coefficient of friction value. The result based on this analysis is a speed loss range of 22.85 mph to 29.50 miles per hour during ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were evidence cones that had been set up on the crosswalk markings, on the west side of Kings Avenue, across the eastbound lanes of Lumsden Road. At the time the cones were mapped, it was unknown that the cones had been moved or hit and were no longer properly marking the crosswalk. Corporations need to be held accountable for making sure they do not operate sweatshops. With such high demand for lower and lower prices, companies are scrambling to try and beat out their competition. With this demand, companies appear to be trying their ethics practices. Toyota was no different, they were trying to keep the price of their vehicles down so that customers in the United States would purchase them over domestic and other international brands. Part of the problem was cultural. Japanese believe they are part of the organization and will do whatever is needed to not lose face for them or the company. Also, Japan has a medium power index, indicating that people will not usually question a manager; they will do what they are told (Beamer/Varner, 2010). The journal article, "Toyota Crisis: Management Issue?" (Yuanyuan Feng 2010) provides an outline of the key factors that triggered the 2009 Toyota crisis, and explores whether the fall in the company's returns by 19% were caused purely as a result of the recall and safety concerns, or something much deeper. I am proposing that the issues affecting Toyota's ability to rebuild cannot alone be fixed by remedying the safety and manufacturing issues, but it must also work to rebuild the company's reputation and rebuild stakeholder trust. As outlined by Stewart (2010), Toyota ended up with a full blown crisis on its hands largely because of the delay and mediocre response from Toyota. These management practices call in to question Toyota's ethical practices and their commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) principles. 2.
