Destination of the month – Chail, Himachal Pradesh
If you are looking to head to the hills and lose the hordes of touristy
crowds that rush up every summer, then Chail is the perfect destination
for you!!
This tiny hill town, located at an altitude above Shimla, was born out of
arrogance of an Indian Maharaja. This beautiful hill town was built by
Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of the princely state of Patiala, who when
banned by the British from Shimla , thought of getting the upper hand
by having his own hill station built at a higher altitude than Shimla.
Tiny Chail doesn’t have a mall, church or a town hall, instead it offers leisurely walks, lovely views of pine forests
and the Maharaja’s Palace. Spread over three hills – Pandhawa, Rajgarh and Sidh Ti ba, Chail is great for picnics
and losing yourself to nature!!
For details, you can contact The Other Home.

Article of the Month: Matheran – Revisit your Malgudi Days by Rajeshwari K
Matheran is among those few places that have continuously
been working alongside nature and trying its best not to harm it.
Located about 90 kilometers from Mumbai and 120 kilometers
from Pune, the town of Matheran is situated on top of the
Western Ghats, 2625 feet above sea level. Although a popular
weekend getaway for residents of Pune and Mumbai, not
everybody who visits Matheran delves into its rich past. But
everyone who visits Matheran cannot ignore the fact that it is an
eco-sensitive zone. The key factor for the guarantee of one
noticing it is the fact that Matheran does not allow any vehicles
within its town limits! Now, doesn’t that bring back memories of
Malgudi Days!!
