This document compares and contrasts Mexican and Jamaican families. Some key differences are that Mexican families mainly live in extended families, while Jamaican families live in nuclear families. Mexican families have a "Good Old Golden Book" passed down through generations with family rules, while Jamaicans follow personal decisions or peer pressure. Divorce is less accepted in Mexico. Some similarities are that both cultures are religious and value family togetherness on Sundays as well as maintaining a positive public family image.
