The Squirrels’ Riddle Museum Wednesday October 6, 2010
STEP 1: SORTING For our natural object unit we collected a lot of natural objects from home and around school. We decided it would be fun to make a Riddle Museumusing the objects we found. Before we could start our museum we had to sort our treasures.
STEP 2: WRITING Each child chose one natural object and then wrote a riddle about that object. We used descriptive language to describe how the object felt, looked and smelled. Some of us also mentioned where the object can be found in nature.
STEP 3: INVITING We wrote invitations for the Wombats, Beavers, Chipmunks and Foxes. Museums need visitors. Our invitations included date, time and location. Just in case the classes missed our signs in the hallway.
STEP 4: ADVERTISING We made sure to put up signs in our hallway to help other classes find our museum. The signs included the name of our event, time, and place. We also made many arrows to help people if they got lost.
STEP 5: WELCOMING Each person coming to our museum needed a ticket. First we had to find out how many children were in each class that was visiting. Then we made enough tickets for each visitor. Finally we made sure to collect the tickets as the visitors entered our museum.
Time for the museum to begin. The Squirrels had to read their riddles to each visitor who came by their table. STEP 6: SHOWING
After the visitors took a guess at the riddle they were allowed to see if they figured out the riddle.
Mr. Gillespie was having a difficult time with this riddle.
TA DA!
We had a wonderful time sharing our riddles with the other ECLC classes. Our visitors seemed to have a good time trying to figure out all our mystery poems.
STEP 7: THANK YOU Wombats Beavers Chipmunks Foxes & Mr. Gillespie
