Valubell is a small
plastic bell that can be
distributed at events
to enhance crowd
atmosphere.
Its chiming sound will bring the
audience together, attract attention to
the event and create strong memories
for the user. Its lid can be lifted up
to reveal the secret compartment.
Attention will be drawn to the brand
at the event itself, and the product
can be retained as a unique souvenir.

Branding Opportunities
Valubell will be targetted at attendees of
festivals and other large scale events, aged
18 - 35. This is a lucrative audience in terms
of brands who wish to attract the audience.
These young adults may be making
decisions about their homes, money and
lifestyles, and thus large corporations would
find appealing to these individuals highly
desirable. Branding has been explored within
this catergory, from banks and insurance
companies to lifestyle companies.
As well as the suitability of Valubell to
be branded by national and international
corporations, another viable route would be
that of charities. The benefit of Valubell is
it is displayed to surrounding people at the
event itself, as well as remaining visible to
the user as a souvenir. Therefore perhaps it
could be introduced in return for a donation
to a charity, allowing people to celebrate the
cause they have supported.
As well as the product simply being
manufactured in the colour of the brand, a
possible future opportunity for the product
is redesigning the whole form to align with
the company, and thus associate the product
further with the brand. In this case, even the
internal compartment could be omitted and
become a 3D plastic version of the company
logo that acts as a bell, and is retained for its
novely, fun and associated memories.

The pricing shown is as quoted by Protomold
UK (in terms of tooling, samples and price per
unit). These prices were defined in having a
non-cosmetic finish on the non visible parts,
and a low cosmetic finish on the outer. The
material chosen will be HDPE which is available
in a variety of colours.
The pad printing is £0.08 per imprint, and
is priced to have four prints of the logo per
product. To reduce cost this can be reduced.
This was from Printon Plastics to keep the
whole manufacture within the UK.
Standard components are encorporated to
save cost sourcing and manufacturing the
virgin materials. A 20mm diameter metal bell
is used, as well as a 1cm thick woven lanyard.
The total cost per unit is £3.38.
This exploded view demonstrates how
the parts fit together. The use of a snap
fit means the parts can disassemble for
recycling, as well as eliminating an extra
joining process. HDPE was chosen as the
material to form the bell as it is lightweight,
easy to mould, and flexible. Therefore
the snap fittings will flex before they slot
into place. The material is suitable for use
outdoors, and will not tarnish under direct
sunlight or UV rays. The three plastic parts
will be injection moulded, with two sliders
being incorporated onto the base mould to
make the undercuts possible. This increased
cost for the tooling wil be offset by the high
volume production. The cost per unit is
£3.38, excluding tooling and origination.
